Convert Video to gif

Is anyone capable of converting a video clip, or part of one, to a gif format? Or can recommend me some software that could crop out part of a video and make a Gif of it for me?

I don't think you can. You can convert it to a .avi file, it's smaller, but .gif files are mainly for short animations, or pictures. Mainly thought of as short animations that don't last more than a minute. But if you wanted to shrink the file, stick with a .avi file.

But I don't think it's possible, even with a cropped piece, to turn it into a .avi.

.avi is massive.... use .wmv or .mp4 if you want to shrink it.
