Common island names

I've been using the same name since Let's go to the city,
I was thinking of changing it up this time as it is kind of a childish name,
but I'm just too sentimental for that

I also think the common names are mostly very cute, like anything with moon and honey I love it
but I wouldn't want my island to have a name that is super common, so I'll keep my Palplace lol

I haven't visited much islands in New Horizons, but back with New Leaf, I saw a lot of Rosewood and Westeros.

i’ve seen at least 5 Wisterias

not judging though it’s a gorgeous name T^T
I was going to name my town that! I thought I was original when I posted it in the ‘what are you naming your island’ thread before the game was released hahaha! I had no idea it was common!

I wanted a somewhat unique name so I named mine Lunarise, it still has the MOON aesthetic there but...in a different way LOL

Tell me about it. I see soo many Heaven and Paradise and any Luna or Moon variation names that I wonder if its the same people lol. but no.

3 of my friends all named their islands Momo. I've seen lots of like galaxy theme + some Windfall (Breath of the Wild).

Anything starting with Rose-. Ive seen lots of Rosewood, Rosedale, etc. They also tend to have very similar town themes too

i cannot even begin to recount the amount of islands named "pen island" i've visited during my time trading on reddit. anything containing the word "simp" is real popular on there, too. with that in mind i honestly find all the "typical", cutesy names sort of refreshing.

I really hope I'm not insulting anybody but I'm constantly seeing Paradises, especially when turnipping and it's getting a tad old lol.
a lot of galaxy/star related names too and cutesy names with "-ia" at the end. also I used to see Azalea absolutely tons in new leaf

off topic, but my favourite name I've seen ever was somebody on turnip exchange whose island name was "human meat"
it's just...
mwah
i adore it

My boyfriend named his 'Pen Island', its pretty funny talking to the villagers there.

Other than that I see a TON of Hyrule.

Personally I haven't seen any repeat names yet, but you can see the same pattern in how people come up with names and that's very cute. It's kinda common practice to use another name or word you find pretty or come up with something that fits the theme or just has pretty syllables.

I think flower based, celestial names, and words in general that invoke images of peace or paradise are very common (Paradise, Haven, Utopia, Serenity), and of course the ever ubiquitous Zelda themed ones.

I also see a lot of names in general that end in Bay, which I kind of get with the island aesthetic, but it's incredibly common.

Rosewood is by far the most common, in NL and NH. I've seen my best friend choose it and like 2 or 3 popular islands with it,as well as a few people elsewhere.
