EDIT: Also, the long response times between messages is Cleverbot going through it's millions of phrases. Scanning that many phrases take awhile you know, and it is trying to find the best one to use in the situation it is in. When he enters his answer that makes it look like somebody it typing, it is just a neat little effect added by the programmers.
