Giveaway Choco Cake, Pikachu Egg, Green Candy, and 5 White Cosmos! (WINNERS ANNOUNCED!)

Last bump before I pick winners! (I'm going to sleep in a while actually, so I'll pick winners when I wake up! ^^)

The smell of freshly cut grass is actually the scent that plants release when in distress.

Thanks so much! And good luck to everyone!

The hot dog traces its lineage to the 15th-century Viennese sausage, or wienerwurst in German. Johann Georghehner, a butcher from the German city of Coburg, in Bavaria, is credited with inventing the “dachshund” or “little dog” sausage in the 17th century, and brought it to Frankfurt.

The potatoe chip was a accident, the person sliced a potatoe too thin.

Since memory space was at a premium, Luigi is green in Mario Bros because it matches the turtles. This decision let Luigi become the green-wearing character we know today :)

Did you know that in the official Prima guide for animal crossing, Queenie is listed as an octopus? I found this quite amusing!
If you don't know who queenie is, just look up a photo of her. (It's not letting me post one for some odd reason) You'll definitely laugh!

Anywho, thank you very much for the giveaway! ^-^

Heeey! I'm back, and I'm closing the entries for this giveaway c:
Stay tuned for the winners-- thanks guys for the patience! x)

So I've (double-)checked through all the facts and I've finally picked my 3 favorites-- here are the winners!

3rd place!
I found this kind of funny/interesting. Fredric Baur was the guy who invented the Pringles can. When he passed away in 2008, his ashes were buried in one.
In 1966, Baur came up with a clever way for Procter & Gamble to stack chips uniformly rather than tossing them in a bag. He was so proud of the achievement, he wanted to go to his grave with it. So when Baur died last month, his children buried the 89-year-old's ashes in one of his iconic cans.

"When my dad first raised the burial idea in the 1980s, I chuckled about it," Baur's eldest son Larry, 49, told TIME. Larry Baur quickly realized his father was serious. Family jokes circulated about the Pringles plan, but no one questioned the elder Baur's decision. So when Frederic Baur died after a battle with Alzheimer's, Larry and his siblings stopped at Walgreen's for a burial can of Pringles on their way to the funeral home. "My siblings and I briefly debated what flavor to use," Baur says, "but I said, 'Look, we need to use the original.'"

I never knew this before (a lot of you probably know this already I guess) and although there isn't anything very deep about it, for some reason its being 'relatable' fascinated and humored me. x) I mean, if I made something really awesome too, I'd take it to my grave! (And yeah, burying him in the original-flavored can was better than the flavored ones)

2nd place!
Trivia: In 1999, Furbies were banned from the National Security Agency's Maryland headquarters because it was feared the toys might repeat national security secrets.

I knew they were evil.
In 1999, after the Furby craze put tons of these talking toys beneath American Christmas trees, the NSA issued a memo banning them from its offices in Fort Meade. Because the commercials advertised Furbies as "learning" English over time, the folks in charge believed that Furbies contained an internal recording device, and they feared the toys would spill secrets in their cutesy voices. According to a 1999 BBC News article, anyone who came across a Furby on NSA premises was instructed to "contact their Staff Security Office for guidance."

However, the NSA's intelligence on Furbies was a bit off. The Furby came preprogrammed with words in English and "Furbish," and couldn't actually record or playback anything. Tiger Electronics president Roger Shiffman ended up issuing a statement assuring the intelligence agency that "Furby is not a spy!"

Just imagine, a large, important group got scared of small toys whose mechanism they misinterpreted. x) It's just funny to think about. Furbies are creepy little things though, who knows, maybe they do hear things...

Finally... 1st place!
The microwave oven was invented by mistake when an engineer testing a magnetron tube noticed that the radiation from it melted the chocolate bar he had in his pocket.

Fast-forward to 1939 where Spencer, now one of the world?s leading experts in radar tube design, was working at Raytheon as the head of the power tube division. Largely due to his reputation and expertise, Spencer managed to help Raytheon win a government contract to develop and produce combat radar equipment for M.I.T.?s Radiation Laboratory. This was of huge importance to the Allies and became the military?s second highest priority project during WWII, behind the Manhattan Project. It also saw Spencer?s staff rise from 15 employees to 5000 over the course of the next few years.

One day, while Spencer was working on building magnetrons for radar sets, he was standing in front of an active radar set when he noticed the candy bar he had in his pocket melted. Spencer wasn?t the first to notice something like this with radars, but he was the first to investigate it. He and some other colleagues then began trying to heat other food objects to see if a similar heating effect could be observed. The first one they heated intentionally was popcorn kernels, which became the world?s first microwaved popcorn. Spencer then decided to try to heat an egg. He got a kettle and cut a hole in the side, then put the whole egg in the kettle and positioned the magnetron to direct the microwaves into the hole. The result was that the egg exploding in the face of one of his co-workers, who was looking in the kettle as the egg exploded.

If there's one thing I love about history, it's the history of items that were 'accidentally' made. Like, they didn't purposely find a way to heat food, it just kinda happened one day when a chocolate bar melted in the presence of waves. And those facts, for me, are pretty awesome. (That, plus I love science!)

Last and not the least, here are the raffle winners for the 5 White Cosmos! (I'm too lazy to upload pics but if you need evidence that I used a random name picker, just mention! c: )
