Candy!? At this time!?

Imagine my shock when a villager visited (it was a surprise visit) and then gave me a candy. I mean, we're nowhere near Halloween!

Is this normal? Can we get candy at any time of the year? I haven't read much on Halloween since the event is such a long way off. I assume we'd be able to buy candy from the store when it's closer to Halloween. The only other AC game I've played is AC:WW and it did not celebrate Halloween, so this will be my first encounter with the holiday. Has anyone else received candy like that?

Yes I have received candy from a villager before! ^.^ It was a nice surprise I think you can get candies whenever, it must be random.

Yes, my friend got candy from a villager about a week into the game! We all used it to catch ants since we weren't buying turnips. I think I still have the piece.

Did you put the candy indoors or outdoors to catch the ants? Must admit, I didn't think of doing this!

I got a persimmon yesterday

I've been gifted candy but I always hope someone will send me a persimmon!

I have yet to get a piece of candy from a villager, although I just recently got a persimmon from a surprise visitor! I think the only other places you can get candy from are Nooklings and villagers on Halloween.

outdoors, sometimes it takes a while so we just leave it at the train station until it gets ants. Then you can get the amazing ANT FARM to put in your house as well!!

I should note - your candy will be fine afterwards, it doesn't spoil or anything. You can't get flies with it though, you'll need rotten turnips or fruit for that.

I got bamboo from a villager during the 1st week of playing. I've gotten 2 pieces of candy. I expected it to be the candy jar but was pleasently surprised to see it was a wrapped piece of candy.

I got candy from a villager too! I decided to put it down to attract ants...But instead I accidentally ate it! -faceplam- Dang, That was embarrassing.
