unfortunately, mira started wearing the hideous orange default design from the able shop and sterling has decided to follow suit today. i love both of their original shirts as i think they... fit (ahaha get it) their personalities perfectly, and i have both catalogued so i can easily acquire them again. sterling looks so odd now. :(

anyways, my question: is there any way to force a villager to wear a specific shirt? i'd much rather see them in their original outfits than the orange... thing they're currently donning.

Hahaha, I feel your pain! Genji has been walking around shamelessly with a bubblegum shirt in my town.
The best you can do is ask Isabelle to reset their shirts (tell her they don't dress appropriatly).
They might change back to their original shirts, or will change to a random one.
If they change to a random shirt, then mail them the shirts you want them to wear. If it's their original shirts chances are they will wear them.

Mira's starting outfit (Red Zap Suit, even though it looks more orange than red.....) is the perfect outfit for her since it makes her look more like Sailor Venus!

i know!! i think it's super-adorable that she was inspired by sailor venus, which was why i was so sad when she changed shirts. it'll be nice to see her in her cute superhero outfit again. :D

The Sailor Venus inspiration is why she is among my favorite villagers. I am a total fanboy of the Sailor Moon franchise! In fact my mayor is based on Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury)...actually...Mira can be the town's Venus, Phoebe can be Mars, Flurry can be Moon, and Ankha can be Jupiter (Even though her color is green, lightning is yellow, which is Ankha's color)!

You're very welcome, I hope it works out for you!
And thank you for the TBT bells. :)

I'm having the exact same problem with my villagers! They're all wearing that hideous orange custom design. :( What I did was I ordered a bunch of copies of the shirt I wanted them to wear from the catalogue and then I sent them one letter a day until they were wearing the shirt. There's no way to guarantee they will wear an item when you send it to them, but they will wear it eventually if you keep sending it.

If it's their birthday, give them the shirt and they will put it on.

You can send five or more of the same shirt in the mail at one time, and they will often put it on. They will put one in their home, too.

Do the PWP dive trick. Fill your pockets with only your tools and shells, with one slot taken up by the shirt. Dive for five minutes, then walk in front of your villager and see if you can get them to take the shirt. This works for me sometimes, but sometimes they just take the shirt and don't put it on.

one thing you can also do is mail them the same shirt three times. they can only put so many shirts in their house as decoration so eventually they'll get the idea. another thing is sometimes carry the shirt you want them to change into on your and they may ping you for it then change afterwards...but this has a low probability of working. the mailing seems to work a little better though. i'd just get rid of those designs too so they can't keep going back to them

Change all the designs in the Able's shop with umbrellas or hats. The only problem is I've send a shirt 4 times and I have no idea what they do with them!

I start with the mayor sending the shirt. If it doesn't work I get another player to send it.
The villagers will wear it and are excited. They go on and on about the shirt Player 2 gave them.
