Can visitors pick up items off tables?

Just a curious question. I know visitors to your town can pick up items dropped on the floor but can they also pick up items off of tables or stools?

I’m trying to make a little market place and the stall item is really cute but obviously no good if people can’t pick up the items placed on it.

I believe so! People host swap parties using stalls and I've had visitors place items on stalls before.

i visited my sisters island the other day and was able to take items off her stall
i don't know if it was only because she's on my best friend list but i think anyone who visits would be able to

Your items aren't safe, unfortunately. I like to put a piece of furniture infront of my stall stuff to block people with magnet hands.
