Can anyone figure out this Firefox problem?

It's mildly irritating, and without telling me to change to Chrome or something else (which are slow as hell on everything I've ever used), why is it that certain webpages will just stop working after they've worked the entire session, the only way to get it to start working again is to fully close the browser and restart it. Doesn't take but a few seconds but depending on what I'm doing I'd have to reopen a bunch of tabs which can be annoying to do so.

Process of it all

Using Google normally
Close Google Tab
Go back to Google
Google "loading"
Never loads
Close Tab
Try to reopen Google
Never loads
Close entire browser down
Reopen google
Now it works


Does that make any sense? I've cleared the cache and emptied out whatever needs to be emptied within the browser itself. What is the problem? Looking for a solution online doesn't come up with anything remotely close. It's an ongoing issue for ages that only has ever seemed to effect me, out of the people I know. Other times it'll be Netflix, Tumblr or even TBT that refuse to load until ending the session. Although it's rather inconsistent because while it's doing it again frequently, especially for Google, it use to do it frequently for Netflix, but took a break for some time up until recently...

Sounds like you've got a compatibility issue or erroring in the program code on your end. Something's not fully executing 100% of the time and it's not good for your internet-life. What I suggest you do is completely uninstall firefox. I mean completely remove the program, all the temp files (You can run a disk cleanup on the drive it was installed on), turn your computer fully OFF. Not just restart. Re download the program, reinstall, and make sure you select advanced and only install the components of firefox you truly need. There are a bunch of addons and stuff that may be breaking the program for you that you've just got to get rid of. Uninstall every add on you have before reinstalling the program, then add your stuff back in. It's a pain but it's definitely just a your-end issue. Just sounds like a "broken pipe" to me.

Generally Firefox runs better for people with slower computers than Chrome does.

Your computer isn't the one having issues.

Chrome is without a doubt a memory hog. As most browsers do now, it separates each tab into a different process and eats up processing power like candy. The trick with chrome is to keep it lightweight and down to a couple tabs if you have that issue. Most people have a computer that can handle about twenty or so tabs. Firefox on the other hand loads each thing up as a separate process and generally uses less processing power for addons. So they do the same thing mostly, run the same way, but the processing power is generally much less than chrome.

Unfortunately the best browsers you're going to get for a slower computer are IE and Opera. Neither are total losses, just IE is generally slow if you don't customize your browsing settings to a certain degree.

My computer is very fast, Chrome has always been terrible no matter what system I use and anyone I've ever seen using it sits there waiting for the lag saying it's the best thing ever. That's one battle I'll never understand, cause I myself can never get Chrome to work as quickly as FF. But there are those out there who swear by Safari, especially on an Apple product and Safari is horrible too, in fact more so than Chrome & FF unless you're on an iOS device. But that's just from my personal experience.

Well uninstall FF and reinstall, no big deal, but thanks for mentioning the details of it all or I would have probably just ended up with a perpetual problem. I've only got maybe 2 add ons, but if it's one of those it's more than likely the ad blocker screwing things up. But I'll try said above to solve the issue.

Try updating Firefox or uninstalling it, sounds like an issue on your end, not Firefox...

I use chrome and have never had issues with lag. I've also got an obscene amount of ram though since this computer is a render-farm machine. Most of the time when it comes down to chromelag it's usually going to be ram or processor power, neither of which I'm lacking on. However when it does come time to crunch down on work I'll completely close the internet browser, so I can see where you're coming from.

Usually chrome is fast as hell until temp files come into it. I use TFC (temp file cleaner by oldboy) to remove all my temp files at least once every 2 weeks. Makes using my computer an enjoyable experience instead of a waiting game.

I have Lunascape running the Gecko engine at half the resources Firefox takes to do the same things.
