Campsite resetting help needed

Trying to reset for campsite. I can't get the date to change. Since Rover doesn't mention the time, I changed my DS clock and that didn't change the date for the game. How do I change it so I can get to a new date?

Use your mayor to tt to 5:58am, then save and quit, wait a few minutes then go in with a new character

I log out my main character 2 minutes before the 6 o'clock reset and create a new character and then its a new day! And when I want to go back to the day I was before I just set up the time so it was like I never TT'd.
