Are you one of the millions addicted to caffeine?

(in coffee, soda, tea, etc)

Ugghh I am. I go one day without drinking anything with enough caffeine and I get the WORST headaches! :(

Caffeine makes me uneasy. I'm fine with one can of coke, and then no more caffeine for the rest of the day.

I'll never understand college kids who chug caffeine. I hear stuff like "oh man, I'm drinking my fifth cup of coffee today!" all the time and I just don't get it. Personally, caffeine makes me feel extremely uncomfortable -- too much, and I feel dizzy. People rely on the stuff way too much and have forgotten what it means to just power through classes/work/etc. I dunno...

OP, you don't sound like these people, though. Sounds like you're just legitimately addicted to caffeine. :(

Lol, no hate the stuff. One of the vets at work always complains because he only drinks coffee, and never water, and he's like "I've got a headache' it's funny

Caffeine doesn't work on me anymore. I've been drinking it for years. I can drink a soda before bed and not have any trouble falling asleep. I don't drink coffee though. I probably will when I get older though. Its much better for you than soda.

If I go a day without soda, I get mild headaches. I'm gradually quitting soda because of this fact, as well as the unhealthy-ness. If I remember correctly, a can of soda is equivalent to drinking a can of fat...? I've also been quitting so I can start eating healthier, and so I have natural energy when I work out and begin my Karate classes.

I used to drink coffee, but not all the time. One from Starbucks here and there, but I quit those. No headaches, which was odd, but I suppose it was because I was getting my caffeine fix from the soda.

Not necessarily addicted per se, but I prefer flavored drinks over water, like juice, milk and/or soda. I still get the recommended 8 glasses though.

Diet sodas are better. Thats what I drink.

Yet they still have caffeine, which isn't exactly "better". Caffeine has caused me to develop insomnia, which is horrible when you have exams and such the next morning and only get three hours of sleep. From what I've read, drinking caffeinated beverages with meals in known to inhibit the absorption of iron and calcium from food, so, that isn't "better" either. I know people try to get out there that diet is better, and sure, it does have less calories, however diet soda has been shown that it may lead to weight gain. When you eat a low-calorie food that tastes like it has a lot of calories, your body ends up craving what it hasn't received, so your appetite may end up stimulated, and cause you to eat more. Drinking sweet beverages, such as soda, may also make you crave other sweet foods, which can also lead to even higher numbers on the scale.

So, again, diet is not "better". Soda is soda, whether diet, or regular, which is why I'm giving it up completely.

Well if they didn't have caffeine, I wouldn't drink it.

Yeah but headaches I get from no caffeine are awful. And I do drink water.

Sure, the headaches may be awful. I'm going through the same thing right now. I've found Advil seems to help rid of them, even if it does take a little bit of time. It's something you have to deal with, however if you are going to quit something deemed as an addiction, you can't quit cold turkey. I was told to gradually step down from soda: whatever the amount of soda you drink per week, cut that amount by 25% for one week, then by 50% the next, and so on. With that, your headaches shouldn't be as bad.

But it's your decision to continue consuming soda.

...I feel like I'm a recovering addict talking to an addict. Something is wrong here... |D

I wouldn't say i'm addicted because I don't get headaches from the Soda but I do like my soda (Diet Coke I don't like the taste of Regular)

Oh, and just for the record, I never drink soda. Except Canada Dry Ginger Ale. That stuff is the nectar of the gods.

I only drink high levels of caffeine when I really need to, just a few weeks ago I had a Red Bull before my Honors English Midterm Essay, it actually helps a lot. luckily I got to leave school after and took a power nap before the after affect of the caffeine actually got it me.

it's all cool beans however.

Not so much. I drink tons and tons and tons and tons of tea every day, but tea is only 3% caffeine (I had to do a whole report on the history of it :/). I don't get a head ache if I go without, but it does help me stay awake. Not so much from the caffeine, but because it is so refreshing. If I drink it before bed, it does not make me stay awake though. I do drink diet soda sometimes (no regular, I'm type one diabetic), although I'm slowly trying to eliminate soda from my diet. However, I haven't told my parents yet, so they still buy it.
