Blue rose paleh method problem (?)

I'm at the point where I need to test the purple roses with seed yellows. Yesterday they gave me a purple so I thought it was ok, but today those same roses gave me a white. So I'm thinking is that purple rose okay to continue with the method or no?

The purple/yellow seed offspring has to give another yellow for it to be a purple with the correct genetics. Also pretty sure purple/yellow seed combination cannot give you purple offspring. Just yellow (correct) or white (wrong).

I’m not sure what the paleh method is, but in the method I’m using the test purple and seed yellow that is good will give you a yellow offspring half of the time (so that sounds like a good purple to me).

as i have understood it, the testing method can yield both yellow and white roses from good purples. bad purples will only spawn whites while good purples can spawn both

So for testing, we have to wait and see if it ever produces a yellow? Not just throw it out the first time it produces a white?

I understand it that way as well!
The fact that they produce white is not alarming, but if they only produce white offsprings, never yellow, then they won't be any good for the next steps.
What I did was keep them all, then put aside the purple that gave yellow, eventually replacing them in their old spot with duplicate purple to be able to get several "good purple".

(I'm just a couple step ahead of you, breeding white and blacks! Blue roses are a pain, especially since my brain gets confused all the time and I end up not remembering which flowers are good or not...)

The purple is good. The hybrid purple will produce yellow offspring half of the time and white offspring the other half while the regular purple will always produce white, so you only need one yellow offspring to confirm the purple is a hybrid purple. Also, you should keep the yellow offspring from the test if you haven't already tossed it. The yellow offspring is actually a hybrid yellow that you can clone like the hybrid purple and breed with itself to get the hybrid white 2. Just don't try to breed a hybrid yellow with a hybrid purple because not all of the whites from that will be the desired hybrid white 2.

exactly. but after a few times of trying and only getting whites i think it's safe to say it's a bad purple and get rid of it.
