They are really careful about that stuff and don't want you passing out.
Every time I donate, I am always given food and water. Always. Before and/or after, depending on how hungry I am. I usually donate to the Red Cross or some other organization that appeared on my college campus.
I said I was a little dizzy once (it really wasn't that bad) and the nurses were all over me. They told me to lie on the ground, so I was just lying there with my legs elevated and everything despite insisting I was fine lol.
So I don't think they'd leave you hanging; they do ask if you are a little dizzy or woozy afterwards.
I thought AB+ was only beneficial to other AB+ who can recieve any type of blood anyway?
Spot on. But It's always worth donating. Makes you feel all happy. ;u;
That's exactly why my first time wasn't pleasant. My nurse actually left me unattended and I apparently donated more blood than I was supposed to. Never doing that again at the same location.*
While we're on the blood donation topic:
A friendly reminder to everyone, please try to carry your official blood type card on you as much as possible!
If you need blood, this is the first thing that will be looked for, and they will look in your wallet first!
It can save your life and help save up universal blood (O-) that is a short supply, and is needed by other O- people who cannot recieve any other blood.
I always have mine in my wallet:
I learned all this in highschool and I asked my parents for it, it has been with me ever since.

It's not a blood donation card per say,
it's a card that certifies your blood type that you get when you are born.
At least here in Europe!
It allows the rescue team to know what blood type you need if you have an accident and need an urgent transfusion.
Because if they don't know and they don't have the time to test they will use O- blood.
I also carry my organ donor card with me.
I am on the donor list and proud of it!
I don't know if they will consider the blood type if you write it yourself,
but I guess it's better than nothing? Theoretically they need to be sure so they need the official card.
