What is the best rare fish catch! I tried to fit as many choices as possible but if you’re favorite is not listed choose other. You can select multiple!

I don’t know about best overall. I just voted Mahi Mahi because I just randomly caught it one day and didn’t know it was even a thing.

describe ‘best’ - in terms of price point, while i’m not sure about some of them, the barreleye, coelacanth and the sharks might be best for some bells. however, my personal favourites are the great white shark and mahi mahi c:

dorado were great moneymakers for me back in march! they were pretty common for fish worth 15k, and i made over millions of bells with them~

Coelacanth for being a very neat fossil fish.

Sharks of all kind, but whale sharks would be my favorite out of the group next to great white sharks.

Barreleye for being a very creepy fish.

I love all of them and I plan to get statues of them all

Barreleye since it is the only one not in the "huge" category, therefor really hard to find. Well I guess there is the golden trout but that is boring.

Also I don't think the Angelfish is rare.

For money alone, the coelacanth, because of how much you can sell it to CJ for! You also get the cool "BLAST FROM THE PAST!" text when you catch it, which I think is always a cool surprise.

I never could catch any of them in New Leaf and I've caught 3 in New Horizons so far (only actively trying to get it once), so there's that too. Makes me happy every time I get one!

I went with Barreleye because of just how rare and hard to find it is, and Mahi-mahi because of the pretty colors! I'm kinda sad the blue marlin isn't as colorful in NH as it used to be but I now have a new selection of pretty fish to enjoy

Golden trout might be a third place for me from the list, but since I don't TT and I'm in the northern hemisphere I'm sure I'm missing the beauty of a lot more fish I'll get to see later on

sadly the models... suck... got my marlin and tuna today, already have the fossil and oar... they end up being about 1/4th the original size and the oarfish is just horrible.

For me, I would say sturgeons right now for money (southern hemisphere). There is literally no shadow as big as theirs in the river mouth, so I can just catch them when I pass by and see one. Shark season was nice too. I personally am fond of the angelfish designs

I was in June for a bit and found a shark mystery island. Make so much money when CJ came to town!

angel is definitely not rare, though a nice bell maker and rather pretty. i'm honestly at the point where i think the barreleye is the most rare fish for me, donated one and have one i'm holding for a model... haven't seen one since and that was almost 2 months ago i got those two. meanwhile i've gotten dozens of fossils etc.

I can't choose, I feel like all of them are exciting to catch! Except angel fish, I didn't realize it was even considered "rare." Regardless, I don't find river fish as exciting as ocean fish for some reason lol

But I guessss if I had to pick one... the coelacanth is a classic
