But here is the catch:

Describe in a sentence or several (or in verse) what summer or the beach means to you.

And here is the criteria:

I would prefer to gift the ice cream swirl and Popsicle to whoever does not already have a collection of them, or who is otherwise not already 'rich' in collectibles.

I will be giving out one beach party collectible set.

Rather than first come, first serve, I will select whoever I want. When I am pleased with the amount of entries, I will close this topic, at which point I will gift whoever I selected. So there will be no announcement of who won, but readers should easily figure it out by checking items below participants' avatar.

I am picking whichever entry happens to interest me most, rather than necessarily being about 'superior' prose or verse. Relatedly, even if I tried to be 'objective,' I would only end up disappointing people anyway.

Maybe summer is the heat thick on your back like sugarcane, chains of the plow pulled from mud-caked muscle.

Maybe summer is shirtless play and laughter, a dance of children around a broken hydrant against a backdrop of brownstones.

Maybe summer is a Maui surfer racing with sea lions on his board and paddle as the thick fog behind him swallows a fleet of departing tuna boats.

Certainly summer means something to a lot of people here.
