I never trust reviews. Most of the games I tend to like always seem to have the worst of the worst when it comes to reviews. It's kind of annoying to see a game you love get a 2.5 or whatever because most of the attention is on graphics instead of how great the story or implementation of the characters is.

I don't know if I'm going to get it or not, I'm still kind of back and forth on the prospect of getting a 3ds because of epilepsy and migranes, but I'm dying to get Ocarina of time again so it's kind of a crossroads here. If I do get one I'll probably pick up the AC game just because. Is there a release date on the 3Ds yet anyway?
Virtual Boy?

And yeah I'll get it even if its a rehash as long as its $35 or $40 because i miss City folks online.

And Ehingen Guy Some review company gave Pokemon SoulSilver and HeartGold a Minus because it was a remake,I mean cmon!

still wish there was more information about the game by know
but i have faith in the franchise so i will most likely pick it up

Reviewers don't tend to like the Animal Crossing series all of that much to begin with, so them giving City Folk a 6 out of 10 wasn't going to influence me either way. They never have been really accurate and don't judge the games on the same basis that I do. So they're useless.
I think you're missing the point of reviews.

part of the point, beyond the score, is for you to judge if the game is what you want. how? by reading the review, and coming to your own conclusion on if it's a good or bad one, or simply if you want to buy the game or not. you can read a review and not totally agree with them. you can take one point, that it's a rehash, or that the graphics aren't very improved, or that the controls aren't very tight, or that it's really short, and come to the decision as to whether or not it's something you'd be interested in.

if you only want to play animal crossing for a week, again, i think you're missing the whole point of the game, but that's your decision totally. i'm just confused as to why you would want to rent a game that's supposed to be played in short bursts over months, instead of hours and subsequently complain about the game. if you're saying it's the same as wild world, totally agree, but if you're saying the gameplay is bad, you're not playing it the right way, and it's probably not your kind of game. for some people, it's really enjoyable. again, it's their opinion.

also, @ zr388, you can tone down the 3D or turn it off completely, not sure if you know that or not. defeats the purpose, but it's an option.

Not my kind of game?

LOL. Now that is a joke. The GCN version of Animal Crossing was the perfect game at the time for me. I enjoyed it so much, and yes, I enjoyed it for what it was.

The purpose of renting is because I don't want to spend $50 on an Animal Crossing game that I'm not really going to play. City Folk was so disappointing that I really felt like I should have rented it, and than I would have realized how disappointing it was and turned around and not spent any more money.

Again, the reason I can't rely on a review is because they have said the same things all along. They said that Wild World was "too similar" to Animal Crossing on the GCN. It wasn't. It was a big change. Now you see they said the exact same thing about Animal Crossing City Folk and I didn't buy into it because they were wrong about WW. And being too similar to WW wasn't anywhere near all of CF's flaws, so yeah. It's better to play it for myself, and it's better to rent it and see than it is to buy it and for it to collect dust.

For me, being so experienced with the series, I can tell whether an AC game is good without playing it over spurts. I don't have to play the same holidays over and over again on the next AC to be able to tell if the game is any good.

And yes, I do believe that the gameplay in CF is lacking, and I don't really understand how anybody who has played from the original could disagree.

Anyway, that is off-topic. As I said, renting is for the best, unless I hear really good things about it and find out that key features that I want (or want back) have come, than I might buy it.

Personally I go on Animal Crossing City Folk and Animal Crossing Wild World probably about once a month, if that...
Where as with the ever awesome Animal Crossing Population Growing for Nintendo Gamecube, I went on it for 2 months straight last year before I did time travelling to fill in two days I missed and I totally wrecked my town doing so and I am planning on going on it at least once per day this year so I can get a full year filled in and have a good achievement.
I reckon that people with Animal Crossing Population Growing should toss aside (not literally) their DS and Wii versions and just go back to basics as I feel the basics are awesome since it is Animal Crossing Population Growing.

I really like how you have animals with more personality and how you have the acre system and all.
I'm not really fond of the random town layout as I keep searching for a great town and there's always something to ruin it.
Anyway, as I was saying, I recommend people go back to basics and play Animal Crossing Population Growing.

I know it's probably not called Population Growing officially, I don't know, but hey, that's what I call it.
Anyway, I have finished what I needed to say.

*is happy I've said what was on my mind*

because i knew you enjoyed the GC animal crossing.

if you can't rely on a review, then research the changes and what have you in the game before you buy it. youtube makes this so much easier, and there's plenty of reviews of games. just pick a few of them, and one of them is bound to be informative on some level. if you're only getting one source, and it's unreliable, the only educated solution would be to.. i dunno.. find another source? repeat as necessary.

congratulations on being experienced with animal crossing. i didn't mean that you have to play it a long time for the holidays, it's just not a weekend kinda game. none of them are.

IMO, all the animal crossing titles are kinda hurting in the gameplay aspect. you have some basic bug/fish/fossil collecting, but the controls are far from superb, and beyond making money, paying off house, make more money, there's not a whole lot to do unless you make personal goals and try to follow up on accomplishing them. i enjoyed wild world more than the GCN game, and didn't make it through city folk long enough to judge it one way or another. i think it was just disappointing, and could have been much better.

i dunno. AGAIN, it's your opinion. i still don't understand why someone would rent a game that's meant to be played over a long period of time. but hey, that's me/my opinion.

It's a simple concept:

I'm EXPERIENCED with the series, I want to play a GOOD Animal Crossing. City Folk wasn't a good AC game, so I should have just rented it.

Really, I'm sorry, but I can't see what's not to understand here. I can tell whether it's good in the time of the rental and therefore turn it back in and not spend the $50. It's a trial rental.

opinions.
both of us.

I will definitely be buying the next version of AC.
I'm saving my money now.
I probably won't buy a 3DS, though, until the 3DS version of AC is released.

It has new music, new graphics, better looks, and more realistic features (wearing sweaters, girls can wear pants). I'm deffinately gonna get this game :D

I might, once the price of the 3ds comes down. But if it costs $50, it better be a dang good game, otherwise it isn't worth it. I usually only pay $40 for a hand held game, no more than that.

I remember that with AC: CF, i wanted it, but it took me a while. not because of my feelings towards it, i was just lazy and i decided to rent it first. i was into WW at the time, so i used the DS import thing, just because. I liked it. The controls almost made my brother not play, and my mom had to slowly detach from GC before she played. Overall, i liked it so i bought it later. I don't like the Taller bodies in this 3DS one, but that alone wont keep me away from this game. There's a good little bit of games that caught my eye for 3DS, so AC: 3DS will probably be getting picked up..not on Launch day or anything..the only Launch day games i have are Fire Pro Wrestling Returns US, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
