Recently I had an octopus-type animal move into my town, in fact it was yesterday! Well I just met him today and his name is 'Zucker', I found out he's a lazy time (which is one of my favorites! 1. Jock, 2. Lazy, 3. Smug), also he has cute hair, because it's chocolate! Anyway I was wondering if octopus-type villagers are rare.

I've heard that cows and octopus are rare, I've had a cow before and her name was Patty, but sadly she moved :(.

Villagers In Monunny (My Town):

Sterling
Marshal
Zucker
Rudy (my favorite and my best friend :D)
Midge
Cranston
Rodeo
Tiffany
Chrissy

Counting the new Splatoon Amiibo villager of Inkwell, there are only four total: Inkwell, Zucker, Octavian, and Marina.

So, yeah. I'd say they're pretty rare.

there is a 4/333 (not counting wa villagers). I think you got a pretty rare villager. Its like shiny hunting for a Pok?mon but different in a way. >.>

I believe there are less octopi in the game than any other species - only four, as stated by the previous posters. It's exactly as StarUrchin said where you have a 4/300+ chance of one moving into your town, which makes them a relatively rare commodity.

Also, congrats on Zucker moving in! He's my favorite lazy villager and I have him in both my main (first) ACNL town, as well as the new town I just started last month. I decided it just wouldn't feel right to have a town without my favorite little takoyaki mollusk roaming around.

I was kind of surprised when I found out there was going to be another octopus villager.I've had my original three octos together for a long time and I didn't think there would be more.If I remember right, you can't get an octopus as part of the original group of five villagers in a new town but I don't know if the update changed that. There's also four cow villagers in the game including the Welcome Amiibo villager Norma.

Octopi ftw! I have Octavian and I love him.
It is rare in the sense of the number of octopi available but technically all individual animals are equally rare because they spawn randomly. The probability of species is what can make villagers seem rare.

Congrats on an awesome random move-in! Zucker's a cutie, I hope you like him. :)

Zuckers is so cute! I wish I could have him move in and lazy villagers are also my favorite!
He's actually supposed to be takoyaki, a Japanese street food that is made with octopus! The "chocolate" on his head is actually a specific savory sauce ^_^

They are awesome, especially if you have four living in your town (I had three at some point) and I personally like Zucker being one and probably, one of my top 5 lazy villager. He makes me want to try eating Takoyaki whenever I see him even though I'm not really fond of them irl.

I've had Marina for a while. I guess it's just luck to get them, (obviously you can make it easier by having their Amiibo card or paying TBT for one of them) I've had Marina for over a couple of years now, she was a random move-in villager and I love normal villagers. But they are rare, there's only four of them out of about 460. And Octavian was the only octopus villager until Dōbutsu no Mori e+, when Marina was introduced.

I really wanted a Deku villager with the Welcome Amiibo update ;-;

closer to catching a full health mewtwo with an ultra ball tbh (mewtwo still lower, but by far less than standard shiny probability)

As an individual villager, Zucker is no harder or easier to get than, say, Lolly the Cat. So in that sense, Zucker is not any more 'rare' than any other villager. But as others have stated, Octopi as a species are more rare than, say, Cats because there are only 4 Octopi vs. 25 or so Cats.

Yup Yup! And his green little freckles are also seasonings. Not too mention he starts off wearing the flan shirt. That and he has a little toothpick in his head. He's way too cute.

Wow, I never knew it was a savory sauce! Also, I'm surprised he is a Japanese street food haha!

Thanks for the info! That's so cool! :lemon:
