Are New Leaf Villagers Following You Into New Horizons?

I've noticed that almost every villager I had in New Leaf, both favorites and not so favorites have somehow followed me into New Horizons.
(Well, everyone except the dreamies I still wanted to keep in NH ).

I thought I'd try starting fresh to avoid feeling any repetitiveness that might occur (I do it pretty much every time I pick up a new ac game) and the only villagers I still wanted from my last list were Chrissy and Francine. Since I had an empty home and 10 tickets in my storage, I decided I'd try my luck at finding the not at all highly sought after feline villager whose name is better off not uttered but every single time I went to a mystery island I kept finding a villager I had in New Leaf, even....Ricky!

I kept thinking: maybe this time....nope. Well maybe now...nope! And then, on my last trip, I saw Zucker, and even though I was set on NOT having any of my previous villagers in this new game I thought... god d*** it!
Ok just for the meantime.

Anyone else keep finding the same villagers they had in New Leaf?

I came across Rocco from my New Leaf town on an island and at that time I was looking for a cranky, so I decided to pick him up! He was an OG in that town and I enjoyed having him around. I also ended up buying Greta from someone else. I was looking for a snooty, saw someone offering her on Discord, and decided to get her. She was also an OG but she moved out of my New Leaf town. It would have been nice to get a new snooty, but I also liked the idea of inviting her over - plus, I find her very cute!

Since then, I haven't found any repeats - but then again, I haven't been actively looking either.

I actually kept most of my New Leaf lineup of dreamies on purpose because I love them all so much. A couple of villagers I found on islands made their way into my heart, though: I found Zucker and had originally planned on selling him because I knew he was popular, but now I love him so much that I doubt I'm going to ever let him leave.

I came across a few of my old NL villagers and most of them were actually on my friends' islands in their beginning days. I didn't have any villagers I had have back from NL besides Pierce and Marshal. I did decide I wanted Chief as a dreamie this time around though. But otherwise, my plan was to try new villagers this time around and I'm really happy about it so far!

No but I kinda miss Mallary moving right next door to my house and stalking me/walking in unannounced all the time. She was probably my best new leaf friend.

Pierce, Cookie, Tom, Bob, and Julian. It was originally just going to be the first four because I wanted to experience different villagers but when I found Julian on an island... it was fate. I had to.

Chevre was the only one who followed me. I moved my NL villagers around more frequently though so I'm not surprised.

Marshal and maybe Stitches. But Marshal for sure

Yes, but the only villager who followed me from NL was Kid Cat. I haven't even seen any of my other NL villagers in friend's games or my own

only two so far! a while ago i met kyle on mystery island i was tempted to invite him because i had him in new leaf and i'm incredibly fond of him but in the end i decided against it. i still ended up staying for few minutes longer while recalling my memories of him from my old town though, haha. our meeting made me feel nostalgic. i also used to have whitney in new leaf and i got her again, i just couldn't pass her especially since i was looking for a snooty at that time!

The only two that I was planning on keeping the same was Bob and Roscoe but then Lolly was one of the first three to move in so I decided to keep her too, so the other seven will hopefully be new to me

whale i have 2 nl towns. i passed up lolly, punchy, and erik on the mystery islands. genji showed up with the island, and i'm pretty sure i let him move out of my nl town cause i wasn't vibing with him. wolfgang and whitney are also in my nl towns (different ones), as is fang.
contrary to you though, i miss them and would love having them in my town again haha i hope to invite lolly back, maybe punchy but not sure since i already have filbert and love him. kinda also waiting to see rudy but i wonder how similar he would be to genji.

Luckily I haven't seen any of them, I don't know if I could've resisted Jeremiah if I met him before Raddle... Depending on my final plans I might get Genji again because Genji is amazing and I love him.

None of them following me to NH. I wish i can have at least one of my NL villagers staying in my island

since i reset so many times in new leaf, i can’t quite remember who i’ve had and who i haven’t. but i looked through my 3ds camera roll the other day and noticed that i had kid cat and tammy at some point who just so happen to be my starters in new horizon

None yet so far, although it’ll be nice if one of my NL villagers move in my island

60% of my New Leaf town has followed me to New Horizons, lol. Originally I only planned to have 5 come over, but I just couldn't leave Ruby behind when I found her on an island. So it's 6 now.

I found one of them on a mystery island (Agnes), but I already had Phoebe and I didn't want a second Uchi.

my starting villagers were new leaf residents lol.. and ofc my dreamies are also former new leaf villagers i've had so yeah, we're all following each other

Whitney, Lobo, Felicity and Snake followed me to New Horizons and they were the villagers that I liked the most from my NL town so I don't mind keeping them permanently. Feels nice seeing my old friends back with me again.
