I've been trying to trade villagers out, but I feel like my offers always get ignored. I would understand if I was asking for a low tier villager for a high tier villager (gotta shoot your shot somehow), but if it's a high tier villager within the same tier, it always gets left ignored? I would post on multiple different forums (so I'm not bashing this one at all, I'm just talking in general), and it just feels like I'm screaming into the void. Does anyone else feel this way?

A lot of people dont want to chance villager trades right now due to the glitches (that can result with normal move outs, too)

Some people would rather risk a few bells or NMT that they can easily get back if the plot glitches opposed to a villager they traded for now a glitched plot.

Hm thanks for the info! I thought the glitches had been resolved with this new update? Or I might be wrong about that

I have seen people say that their trades went smoothly since the last update, and I haven't seen any reports of villager glitches since 1.2.0. I do believe it is fixed, which would be great as I have so many villagers I want to give to friends and amiibo would make it sooo much easier.

That’s good to know! Hopefully no new ones pop up :/ i can understand the frustration

I think the glitch is fixed, but there's a very high supply of villagers due to things like amiibos, mystery islands, and the campsite trick. There isn't a lot of competition, which means there's less people interested in each posting.

Another factor maybe if you are trying to trade for the new villagers. Though they may share a tier with other villagers, they don’t have Amiibos you can use to invite them in whereas the older villagers have Amiibos.

I think in general, trading bells or NMTs for villagers instead of villager for villager tend to be more reliable and less chance of getting scammed. Especially if you're the one giving up your villager first to the other person, then that requires a lot of trust that the other gives up their villager too and nothing goes wrong in the mean time.

Also thinking back to the 3 basic functions of a money/currency in general. As a medium of exchange, store of value, and unit of account. It's just much easier to use bells and NMTs because they both satisfy the 3 conditions to be called a currency. There's always a market for them, and there might not always be a market for a certain villager.

In addition, just in general, people's preferences. Just because you have a "high tier" villager and someone else has a different one, it doesn't mean that the someone else will want to trade theirs for yours specifically. They have their own preferences and will work to achieve those. Usually, selling for bells/NMTs then buying the villager they want works better.

Also, I don't know how many people like trading a villager for another. I think most people want the nmt or money, plus I could see trading villager to villager being frustrating due to both people needing plots. I've never traded for another villager before, I don't think I ever would just for that reason personally!

I actually got my only dreamie, Lucky, in an exchange! But it was in Nookazon (when it started, now there are so many scammers in the villager section.... poor Raymond lovers).

As people have already stated, NMTs and bells are''easily'' obtained again if you get scammed, and exchanging a villager requires a level of trust many can't have with...well, a complete strange from the Internet. I was lucky our trade went smoothly and we were both pretty happy about getting our respective dreamies (Lucky and Apollo). If you want to exchange villagers I think you should either search somewhere where the offers are already stated, like Nookazon where people can actually list villagers they want in exchange, or search here for someone that specifies they are open to exchange (or if you have one of their dreamies, pay attention to signatures).
