Anyone else upset that ACNH doesn't have that many new villagers?

I'm hoping a new species or a new personality with a few new villagers gets introduced in a DLC update or something.

More then enough for me. I started playing with New Leaf and played that for years, but I'm barely familiair with like 10% of the villagers as it is. So yeah. I wouldn't say no to it, but its not really something I'm hoping for. I would prefer more dialogue over more villagers.

I think it's too soon to be upset or disappointed about anything yet. If you look back at how the past month as been, Nintendo has been giving us free updates and are continuously adding more content into the game.

Before yesterday's Earth Day update, people have been complaining about the lack of shrubs, the lack of art, and the fact that Reese and Cyrus are missing from the game. There have even been threads ranting about the lack of an Earth Day update! But Nintendo managed to deliver all of these despite the on-going pandemic.

Give them time, I'm sure they'll add even more content over time! In fact, I feel like the pacing of updates from Nintendo is perfect. I'm just about done decorating my island, my shop has just been upgraded two days ago, and I am gradually running out of things to do. So the upcoming update came at the best time. ^^

For me they should remove some of them for the next game to give the player some fresh air. Yeah some favorites of players will potentially be gone but they always can bring them back after. And there's a lot of ugly ones nobody ever want or talk about so it could be a good test to remove some of them so see the AC fans reaction...
I mostly think we need some balance between the species and new species added. (Bats and a new anteater which is a pangolin would be a nice touch to redeem those poor beasts 🙄 )
I don't like that there's only 3 octopus for example, the gap number of villagers between species is sadly too high 😢
Pretty much every villager is gonna have someone who likes that villager so there will always be people disappointed. If they kept the most popular villagers, but got rid of the least popular, people still like those villagers

I was a little disappointed at first, but we have so many villagers and the majority of them i never had before so i feel like getting some of them for the first time makes up for it.

Absolutely not. I am delighted they did chose the right path by making sure all the 383 Welcome amiibo villagers returned on day 1. You can’t have it both ways. GameFreak chose to cut Pokémons from Sword and Shield to make way for new Pokémons. That’s the wrong decision as we saw the fans reaction. Nintendo chose to bring back the whole cast before adding some new characters. 8 is good enough. I don’t want to go back to the Wild World days where half the roster was missing.

Yeah, I was kind of disappointed, too. I don't actually want a new species, but I was hoping for some more variety within the current species and just new villagers in general to make things more interesting. Bringing back some of the cut villagers would have been great, too. I'm hoping they'll add in some new ones in a future update.

Yeah :( I was especially hoping that they'd add some more characters to flesh out the newer personalities with fewer villagers (uchi mostly).

Almost all the new villagers are ugly anyway, so if we got any more and they looked like that, I think I'm good without 'em.
No but in all seriousness, I'd personally prefer if they brought back old villagers from GC or something. Like Dozer or Emerald or Bessie, ect. There's so many good ones that we've lost for so long! It'd be nice to see them again in the new era.

What was the second species added to NL? My memory is garbage, I only recall the hamster being new.
Deer were also new in NL.

Yeah, they should've added more like 50 (at least), even if it meant cutting existing villagers. And like some others have expressed, I don't even like the new villagers they did add that much.

Not really. There are so many to choose from now, adding even more would make people frustrated over the odds of getting that ONE villager they need for their town/island. Just trying to figure out if I wanted old favorites or new faces was hard with the available selection. Adding even more to the mix would have caused my brain to tilt.

Sometimes more is not better.

I stopped playing New Leaf prior to Welcome amiibo, so there are a lot of villagers that feel new to me even if this isn't the first game they have appeared in. 😊

Not really. There's so many villagers in the game. There's hundreds of them. If you're bored of the villagers, why not try letting yourself having random ones instead of just your dreamies? You might find that you like other ones that you didn't even consider.

I just find it baffling how we got hundreds of new clothing options, new tools and all that cool stuff and just 8 villagers? They worked on the game for 8 years and they "only" came up with 8 villagers. I'm in no way saying that we are entitled to have more villagers but somehow I thought they would even add new villager species or even personalities and here we are with just 8 villagers. ^^

I am, but it’s probably saved me some heart ache from trying to fit in all the new villagers I wanted. I’m hoping in the future they’ll add more (ideally new personality or species villagers!) as well as increase the amount of villagers we can have... even to 12. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a paid DLC in the future.

So that animal crossing becomes the next Pokemon Sword/Shield? No thanks
For me adding and removing some pokemons in each game was something that kept gamers entertained and more eager to discover the new pokemons. And some of them came back after being removed.
But I don't know I didn't play Sword/Shield nor all the episodes, just played Red - Silver - White - X - and Moon in the main saga.

Concerning AC I think there's a lot of villagers and if you had a lot more it's simply more difficult too to find the ones you want initially. So I still think villagers needs a little bit balance between species...
