Anyone else still buying amiibo cards?

How do the cards work? Do they expire after one use or can you use them several times and then potentially sell them on/give them away for someone else to use?

i buy amiibo tokens now off of etsy. miles cheaper and i get to pick who i want. no more feeling bad bc i can't afford the $30+ price tag on some characters.

I bought Pietro's card on eBay before New Horizons came out for £5 which at the time I thought was a little expensive but he was the one villager I really wanted. After I moved him in I put the card back up for sale and it went for £40 with over a dozen bids it's surprising just how quickly they shot up in value. Can't imagine the prices cards like Raymond and Judy will go for if they ever make them.

Once you start Amiiboing villagers in and how simple the process it, it gets addicting real fast. You can even rotate them out and only keep a few permanent villagers.

Thats basically what Im planning on doing! I want to have a few amiibos to cycle thru so that I can keep meeting new villagers

ah yes amiibo card collecting ;-; very addicting! I collected them all in 2017 when the packs were still being put out. lots of trading and $$ I try to block out the memory of spending haha. very satisfying knowing I have them all though. once I got that last card I felt so relieved

I don’t have an android phone so I have to buy them because my old android phone broke and stopped working lol

I did buy some nfc stickers from and eBay seller recently and they were super sweet.

I brought Punchy, Stitches, Lucky, Ruby, and Whitney for like $37 dollars it was buy 4 and get the fifth one free.

I brought them off etsy.

I’m only buying the official packets for £3.49 from the Nintendo UK store. I refuse to pay more then £2 for a card when I can buy a pack and just trade and dups I get.

Having Amiibo of your set villagers is also a feel good safety net. I won't mind giving them random furniture or even to let them go when they ask because we can also bring them back via Amiibo. Allows me to experience other villagers, even random campsite visitors or ones from island hopping. Great value if you're able to find your Amiibo for a deal.

i think i've subconsciously been doing this as well honestly... other than coco, zucker, kik, and julian, i've been swapping villagers in and out pretty much constantly with all my amiibos. sometimes my friend makes me feel guilty for it but also there have just been a lot of residents i didn't connect with and i just wanted to experience someone new! so i can see myself doing this often. pietro and dotty are in my sights right now, but it'll be later this summer before i spend money on their amiibo cards if i can find a deal.

i just really enjoy meeting new villagers sijlskds,d

I bought some specific villagers on eBay before the game came out because I knew they'd go up in price but there's still lots I don't have.

I was lucky to be living in NYC when they first came out as there were swap events at the Nintendo Store. So I was able to get all of series 1, and some of the other series. I wish I'd gotten more though and I would definitely buy more if they re-released them. I have all the Sanrio ones but they're pretty useless now!

I'm considering buying amiibos for some of my less popular favs (rory, spike) but paying even $10 when I know I could get a whole pack of cards for a fraction of the price kinda hurts so I haven't yet

I dont think theres anything wrong with it especially if you didnt connect w the villager! and I think its fun seeing fresh faces around the island (tho I definitely have villagers that are never leaving) and I kinda wanna try getting all the photos of my amiibo villagers so thats something to continue working towards : D

omg that is lucky! and swap events sounds fun : D

I hope the sanrio cards are eventually able to bring those villagers back......the posters are cute and all but Id love the sanrio villagers to come back 🥺

I personally haven't been bothered to buy Amiibo cards, but I have been thinking about it a bit. Maybe if I can find some cheap ones I will.

You are so strong....It does still hurt knowing the packs are much cheaper but I cannot help being impulsive LOL

yeah there's a couple ive really connected with and are never leaving, chief and wade are definitely slowly becoming part of that list, and i do feel somewhat guilty when i boot villagers out, but then i remember i have their amiibos and i can bring them back anytime and im like meh, it makes me happy to see new faces all the time

I am not buying the cards since they are way too expensive... I did buy some fanmade coins though for very cheap, because I don't want to spend a lot of time island hopping/campsite tricking :')
