Anyone else kind of regretting their map layout?

I'd just like a big flat rock, but I got a cute "private beach" area thanks to my river and peninsula so that's a good tradeoff.

Yes and no. Granted the map is kind of small in terms of large scale decorating and gardening, even with terraforming, so you have to exercise caution with how you design your island to begin with so I can understand with a 42 acre island, it's not gonna be easy to find a good layout for certain themes/ideas to begin with.

However, I sometimes wonder if I picked a bad layout to begin with. But I've come so far and got so many limited time items (including some that are given to you by a one-time only generated code meaning I'd lose them permanently if I reset) and made so much progress including some rare and even hard to catch finds (looking at you wasps!) for the museum that, at this point, even if I do regret the layout, resetting is no longer an option for me.

Once I get into serious decorating and gardening, I'll find out whether or not I got a good or bad island layout. The one thing I absolutely don't regret in terms of layout is how/where I was able to place my museum.

Probably too many since I made it all the way up to a few days into teraforming. But I knew I was going to constantly be bothered by the location of the plaza and eventually give in. I know myself too well in that regard. I have too much fun with this game and enjoyed even the beginning days so it wasn't too painful to reset. I'm happily almost caught up at this point, I'm getting my first camper tomorrow! ^-^

I reset on Day 5 with 35 hours and it was the best decision I ever made. It does however put me exactly 7 days behind everyone else. I see people now resetting when they have 100+ hours because of the same realization that I came upon me regarding terraforming limit and river mouths. Pretty much most people who set have rivers mouth that both face toward the bottom.

Do you mean problem with plaza lining up with airport? If so what I notice is that RS line up perfectly with my airport until it became a Town Hall and then it was to the left of the airport.

It never easy to reset but I'm glad you are all caught up.

The only thing I reset for was native fruit and town hall location since I knew I couldn't move that. I feel your pain though because towards the end of NL's life span I started disliking my town layout but it was way too late to restart. I wish I could move just one of my river mouths but with terraforming I feel like I can deal with it.

Kind of regret because the sides are small, but I don't want to reset because I made it this far, I'll probably have to start doing a lot of relocating and terraforming

yes. I want to destroy everything and start over lol but I’ve accepted it and will try to make it work even though I’m never going to be 100% happy

I'm not a big fan of how my Resident Services blocks a straight line from the bottom to the top of my town, but I can probably work around it. I haven't done too much terraforming yet, so I've basically ignored layout issues. Maybe that will change when I start terraforming my town.

I thought I'd grow to like my natural made layout, turns out I was dead wrong. I used up a lot of space around the island I barely had space for anywhere else.

The way it looks now is very nice and I hope to improve on it as I go.
