I love King of the Hill!

Anyone else excited about the reboot, with adult Bobby?

My main concern are the characters... Dale was always my favorite, and after Dale's voice, Johnny Hardwick passed away, I feel like it won't be the same. (He was much more to the show than just the voice!)

I did read somewhere that he recorded some episodes for the new show. So he will probably be there for a little bit and there will be some episode to remove him. That's my only guess for why it's taking so long. This reboot has been in the talk for years. Feels like it's just stuck in development hell now.

I want to see it. Last year, I took the time to re-watch all the old episodes on hulu to "prepare" for the reboot whenever I it comes to a streaming service I have. It was... interesting watching it as an adult vs from when I was a kid.

Woah it's actually happening? Bobby's my fave character so I'd definitely watch. I had no idea he passed away, rest in peace. I know Brittany Murphy (Luanne's VA) passed and that deeply affected me. Still quite haunted by her death and the uncertainty around it. Greg Daniels writes amazing TV so I'd gladly watch anything he writes.

Most of the reboots I've seen haven't been all that good. The Frasier and Night Court reboots weren't nearly as good as the original shows they were based on.However,I did like the Beavis and Butthead reboot and of course Mike Judge was responsible for that and he's also the guy that co-created King Of The HIll so this reboot might be different.I'll definitely watch it wherever it comes out.

Don't forget Office Space... one of the biggest movie flops by Mike Judge, but has become a huge cult classic.

Who can't relate to a guy who just wants to quit his job and do nothing.... 😆

Apparently, they’re also getting Fortnite characters. I can’t wait to shoot everyone else as Hank and Bobby!

I knew that, but I didn’t realize there was a confirmed reboot. I wonder how much the animation style will vary from the original run, since obviously technology has improved since then.

I've known about the reboot for forever, and I'm not really sure if I'm excited because I know that reboots tend to not be that good, but I am definitely intrigued. King of the Hill is one of my favourite shows. I'd like to check it out when the first episode premiers.

I’m not watching the reboot because I really can’t stand Hank. I think he’s just an awful person who seems to be “good” because of his so called “morals.” I just hate how arrogant he is.

I don’t know what to think. I’ve seen King of the Hill, but not enough to be a big fan or anything. I am curious about adult Bobby though, and how they will handle Dale and Luanne, since both their VAs passed away. (Will they replace them, or just write them off the show.) Kathy Najimy is perfect as Peggy though, so if she passes…Idk what they’ll do!

I watched it for awhile back when it was airing and was... not a huge fan of it. The reboot looks interesting, but I probably won't watch it.

Hm, interesting. The animated shows created/originally aired by Fox keep getting rebooted and renewed (the latest being Futurama, which got uncanceled again last year), and now King of the Hill. It’s not a show I typically watch, though I’ll turn it on if it’s running on Adult Swim and there’s nothing else on.

If I’m not mistaken, they had plans to keep the original show going past Season 12 (or 13; forgot exactly when it ended) until network execs told the producers out of nowhere that it would be canceled. As a result, more episodes were produced than originally ordered, and said episodes were aired in syndication. It’ll be interesting to see how the show continues, but I may pass if there’s too many political references.

Now theoretically, as this is an animated show, they could get away with using similar-sounding voice actors for Dale and Luanne, given they aren’t already written out of the new scripts. The latter will most likely occur as this reboot takes place in modern times with a grown-up Bobby. We’ll see how they’ll handle it.

And just destroy some piece of junk tech that doesn't want to work. I mean, I think we've all wanted to do that at some point.

Can't say I'm particularly excited since I generally try to avoid getting hyped up about things in case they end up being disappointing. That said, if it actually debuts and ends up being good then hey, cool. I enjoy King of the Hill, so I'm open to seeing how it goes.

Bobby being an adult in this feels like the right call.

Not sure how I feel about the potential prospect of them including Dale since Johnny Hardwick, his voice actor, has passed away. Dale was an entertaining character and his presence will be sorely missed in this new show, but even if he did record some stuff prior to his death, I don't know how the showrunners would handle things past whatever point he might've gotten to. He would either need to be recast, which seems like tough shoes to fill and not something I really want to see, or written off, in which case it seems better to have him already gone from the neighborhood or something. I dunno. We'll see. Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty, the voices of Luanne and Lucky, have also passed away, so that's three characters down.

Hopefully it's good, but again, we'll see how it goes.

I completely agree with all of this!

I have been thinking about Dale and what they could do... if I were a writer for the show, I would have Dale's "son" picking up the conspiracy mantle! Joseph was, after all, raised by Dale!

I don't think they can replace Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty though.

Did they mention Luanne and Lucky in the reboot. They could just write them off like they moved away. They weren't really the main cast like Dale was.

But also if it's a reboot where everyone is like 20 years older it could also be easier to find a voice actor that sounds similar, but has differences. Cause people's voices don't stay the same through their life.

Maybe Luanne and Lucky's kid goes to Bobby because they made him a god father and they passed away and Bobby often calls Hank for advice or something.

I haven't actually dug very deep into this. So I don't know about Luanne or Lucky. Lucky definitely became one of my favorite characters towards the end though, even as a side character.

There are a lot of talented voice actors out there and they can definitely do the voices (my Uncle had a student who went on to do Bart Simpson's voice for commercials at the height of the Simpson's).

I guess we will see what's coming!
