I'm seeing so many "anyone regret" or "anyone unhappy with" threads, I wondered if there was anyone else out there who was happy with their island, villagers, gameplay, like I am?

Is my island layout perfect? Nope, but I don't remember thinking any town in previous games was. And in this game, I can move/eliminate pesky rocks and ponds if they aren't where I'd like them.

I'm able to place all houses and the majority of shops where I want them, so the vision in my head stands a better chance of becoming reality (taking into consideration my skills at landscaping, of course).

And the simple fact that we started from nothing is really interesting to me. Always before, our character has moved into an existing town, with most of the villagers, shops, and structures already there. Here, we start with two others, and yes, that is random, but the only other things there at the start are Resident Services and the airport, which we knew from the beginning. To be able to create a thriving community, without the need to work around what is already there? Yeah, it takes a little longer, but how much more satisfaction is there when you finish?

Anyway, I'm hoping that the negative stuff can be kept to other threads and this one can be for the happy, positive vibes we get from playing.

i’m happy with my island layout. i’ve got room to do things and put things and i’m happy with it. my island is nowhere near being completed and likely won’t be for a while, but i have a general idea of what i want to do and what i want my island to look like and i’m happy about that.

when new leaf came out, i was 11 and had no idea about anything (my town was called cloudluv ffs lmao) and by the end of my time playing it, my town looked like an underdeveloped mess and my island looks a lot better in a month’s time than my town ever did in the span of 4 years so yeah, i’m definitely happy with my island lol

I am happy with my island! It gets to change and improve everyday. I have a plan for it now and I'm really excited to see my plan go from dream to reality. I wonder how it will change in the process.

I'm really happy with how my plan is going, with terraforming I could get the perfect layout. My villager houses are a bit clustered in one part but other than that it's great. And if there's any new buildings come I have so much space for them.

Out of all the town layouts I've had, I'm happiest with my NH layout since I can change it to whatever I want and it does feel bigger than NL. The current layout is still a WIP but it's almost unrecognizable from the initial layout. Terraforming really is a godsend.

Very happy! I have pears, yellow airport, and lilies, all my top choices. I have my town hall far from the airport entrance. I have a huge peninsula that is going to allow me more freedom in decoration options for it. The river outlets are one in the south and one on the right side, which is just fine! I found one of my dreamies as the initial 3 while visiting mystery islands.

I have the mindset where if I see a super finished designer town, I don't think "oh boo, they have something better than me. now I'm going to go sulk." I see it and think "wow! I can't wait until I get teraforming unlocked, I liked what they did with "this" and "that" area, now I have some ideas to incorporate into my own island.

Yes i’m so happy with mine right now and I still have alot to do! I reset my map after the first 2 weeks of the release and it was the best decision! I picked a map and fruit that I truly love and it makes all the difference. I also decided i’m not gonna try to terraform some crazy map layout, i’m just gonna do little mini accent terraforming off of the map the game gave me. I also found that taking the game day by day helps alot and just relaxing and chillin, sometimes it’s hard to remember this game legit has no time frame. So just kick it and play.

I’m quite pleased with my island so far especially after tweaks using terraforming! :D I think the best approach to designing a town is go at your own pace and be open to trying things out. Like life, Animal Crossing towns aren’t perfect and all you can do is make the best of it. ;)

As much as I wish I knew that the Resident Services was permanently fixed when picking my town... I have no regrets or intentions of ever resetting! I'm more than willing to work with what I got. I got really all I wanted when picking a map: Apples as Native Fruit.

Even having getting the front part of my town 80% developed, and then deciding I changed my mind and that I'll tear it down later, it's at least a little something to make my town look a bit nicer than just having it empty for goodness knows how long until I put my new theme and layout plan into gear. Sure it kinda stinks I already invested in 2 brick inclines and a brick bridge, but I feel like the trial and error is all a part of my island's development and story. I learned my lesson that going full improv isnt my style, but instead of resetting, I'm gonna keep pushing!

Especially now that a lot more is at stake when resetting, I'm willing to work with any mistake that I can easily adjust or work around. But it's not a "I have to force myself to be happy with what I have to not want to lose all my diys and progress" feeling if that makes sense? I actually have the confidence that I'll make this island my own, and something that I'm happy with!

I didn't get the perfect island layout, but I'm very happy with what I've done with my island with minimal terraforming!

Part of the charm of Animal Crossing is how random almost everything is, and it is that randomness that forces me to be creative with how I decorate in game.

It's easy to get a really good look looking island if you leveled the whole place and redid it the way you want it to be. But I like the challenge of having to make it look good with what the game decided to throw at me. ^^

My island is far from finished and I feel like I made some mistakes that I'm still correcting, but I'm honestly very happy with how my island is turning out. And I'm happy that I'm not so far along with my island that it would be a problem to incorporate bushes in my plans.

Yes and no. Technically I'd've liked the island to be bigger in general. Room for more flowers and fruit-tree types and even better space for island decorating (and even additional permanent placement shops/facilities not added on to existing buildings), but as for working with I have, I'm currently happy with my island.

If, in the process of building my dream island (from gardening down to decorations/furniture placement), I discover that I have to alter my plans to make use of my layout, then I will only ever regret it IF I end up having to abandon certain plans altogether. So, the TL;DR is: Yes I'm happy with my island. I live right by the beach (and some how all the major shops are just off a shoreline too...no idea how I made that happen since I wasn't doing it on purpose lol).

Mine looks better than I could have imagined. All I knew going in was that I wanted both rivers to exit south, and they do. Once I unlocked terraforming, I just went with the flow (pun not intended), and it looks great.

I'm overwhelmed with the Island Designer App, but I think I'll like it after all the designing. In terms of villagers, I have two I'd like to have out but I'll let them ask when they're ready.

Villager wise I'm super happy with my village, I really love all of my villagers and I'm so thankful and happy every time I turn on the game and get to see them. Layout wise I'm not super happy with my village, I have a lot of work to do on it and a project I did the other day that I'm not liking. BUT I love a project I did with my shops, they look so nice and make me so happy every time I see them and proud that I put it together. So I know I have the ability to make my town amazing if I just keep playing and fixing things and taking my time. So all in all I love my island and am always so happy to play the game.

Yeah I'm happy with the layout that I got after two days of resetting. I don't think it could have gotten any better because it's always the same types of maps with slight variations. I don't really know what to do with it, but I'm content with what I got so far.

I'm super happy with a lot of aspects of my island! I love my villagers, like my natural river placement, have good long stretches of beach with no rocks... And my town hall, stores, and house are all very conveniently placed.

I made some really nice little yards for my villagers that I'm proud of. Credit for the pool idea to aceflapjack on Reddit.

I'm incredibly nitpicky so I'm very surprised I can actually say I'm happy with my island. I chose the layout for a reason, and it's working out. I like the plaza placement, the river exits are what I wanted, and even though I've only worked on one area (and it's not even done), I'm happy with how things are shaping up!

If I could change one thing, it would be the location and size of my peninsula :(
