Anyone else getting very annoyed with the Fishing Tourney?

The Bug Off is definitely easier since you can plant flowers beforehand and catch a lot there. Fishing Tourney only gets easier if you crafted butt loads of fish bait. I never liked the Fishing Tourney cause it took FOREVER to get over 300 for the gold trophy. And while I wanted an extra fishing pole stand, I got anything but that lol.

Regardless, I got all the items from the tournament and the trophies so in the future, I'm just gonna participate in the first round to get that stamp that I participated.

I miss the ceremonies and seeing who got 1st/2nd/3rd place.. and didn't they used to have either a Bug Off or Fishing Tourney once a month? Now I have to wait until OCTOBER for the next Fishing Tourney??????

I miss the trophy ceremony as well and relying more on large catches than number.

I also wish we could choose what we want doubles of... I already got everything, just want another anchor, but don't need 5 tackle bags.

I really thought I'd be getting new prizes and be trying for different trophies this time, not just adding (?) to my previous score. I guess it works out because I don't need to try as hard to catch as many fish. Fishing sucks because of how much time it takes to get the fish to bite + how much extra hassle it is to turn clams into bait...

I enjoyed it more than bug off and I like the prizes more than bug off. I played it at already 5pm. Managed to get 5 prizes, lol! I don't use any bait cos I didn't have time to create any. So only managed to catch around 5 to 6 per round. The points are carried over to next tourney so I'm not worried about it. I missed the spring tourney. Yesterday was my first participation and I liked it a lot. As for the fish, I think it will be abnormal having them succumbed themselves easily to the bait because there's a tourney. Sure some people want the trophy as soon as possible but then to complain about something to cater to their needs, I dunno. I don't think the fault is with the game itself.

BTW, I caught napoleon fish and whale shark for the first time yesterday. That makes me much more happier

I like to do my fishing in the ocean. In rivers and ponds, as soon as you're lined up properly, the fish turns away!

I like the bug off much better, but then I generally like bug catching more. Then again I liked the bug off rewards a lot more too.

3 minutes is not enough time when fish are being fickle. By the time you finally get the lure in front of the fish a minute has been wasted. I was busy most of the day so I barely got to participate but it’s so frustrating it makes it not fun. I enjoyed the bug off so much more

The solution is to park yourself into a good fishing spot and use some baits. If you're going to run off somewhere, you won't really get a high score.

This was my first tourney since I didn't get the game until later. It seemed like the fish took particularly longer to take a bite, but I'm pretty sure that was just me being impatient. Plus I didnt even think to use bait so... I got all of the items though and a bronze trophy so I still had a good time Hopefully I'll get silver and gold next time!

The fishing tourney is def considerably easier to play in a group. I played with 3 of my friends and we all caught avg 5-6 fish each time, and each time we'd get around 17-20 points. We barely needed any bait too, I used maybe 10 bait total for like 6 rounds.

I like the Fishing Tourney! I think it's super easy to catch fish however it does become tedious as you are standing in one place.
The trick is to stand by the beach where there is a dip in land. Toss some bait and when you cast your rod, it will land directly in front of the fish.

I was considering this yesterday. I just hated the random disconnections though. I do agree that this is the best method of racking up points for the gold trophy.

I got all items the first time around and so today, I just played 1 round to get the achievement. I actually had fun the first time and got all 3 trophies and multiple of every item. But I played with my bf for the last bit and multiplayer makes it easier, in case that's an option for you!

Do you get the different variants of things like the fish print and the fishing rod stand when you compete it a second time, or was I right to basically go "nah, can't really be bothered with this" this time?

If you got multiple of the items last time, you can just customize them to the other variants so you can have each one ^_^

without bait its pretty much impossible for me to get a high score, rng is never in my favor
i don't like the prizes either; the anchor is ok but what else can i do with the rest aside from decorating my beaches (or i'm just v uncreative lol)

yeah, the fishing tourney can be difficult, especially when fishing takes a lot longer than bug catching so you catch less fish than you would bugs in 3 minutes. it was a lot more enjoyable for me today since i was playing with a friend but it’s definitely frustrating on your own and since i don’t even really like the prizes all that much, it’s not very worth it for me to participate beyond getting the nook miles achievement

The Fishing Tourney is such a chore ugh... I felt dead inside after powering through it to get all the trophies/items last time so this time I just played once to unlock the Nook Miles achievement. Even though I have all the trophies/items from Big-Off too I will happily participate in that again over the Fishing Tourney any day.

I really enjoyed it.

I'd got the bronze trophy from the last tournament, but after less than an hour of fishing on a friend's island, I'd reached the gold trophy this time.

I'd been steadily crafting fish bait most days, maybe just 5 a day, but it meant I had plenty stored up ready to use. That made catching fish super easy.

I missed the April tournament, so I was trying to get all the items yesterday. I only got up to 10 because it felt much more of a chore than the bug off. I had some bait but it still seemed to take ages! I just wanted to do something more fun with my spare time.

Weirdly enough, this was my first fishing tourney, although I've definitely been playing on April 11. I've started April 7, so maybe my progress wasn't far enough? Also, I didn't play online back then. Either way, it kind of annoys me that I missed that one, especially since I was really into fishing back then. Now I'm not anymore, so I didn't enjoy it that much. I think I only played two rounds.
I much prefer the Bug Off
