Anyone else feel like Redd's art is too cheap?

while it would make sense given his personality and how other items got a price boost, i wouldn’t be all that happy about spending 25k-100k on artwork

Bells are easy to come by in this game but because Redd comes so infrequently, his cheap prices aren't so bad. With a lot of really expensive products at Nook Cranny, Nintendo probably just wanted people to be able to afford the art. Personally as someone who collects fakes, I wouldn't want to pay a ton of bells per fake.

i don’t thhnl it’s that weird considering it has been the same in previous games, however since nooks sells more expensive things now (unlike previous games i’m pretty sure, computers and the like used to be way less expensive than the like 100 k you have to pay for them now...) so i guess it could make sense for art to be more expensive. but in the end i’m happy it’s not more expensive

I think so now that items tend to be more expensive at Nook's Cranny compared to other games. It just stands out more now and doesn't seem as realistic. I wouldn't be too opposed to the price being up to 20k or 50k for a piece of art. I guess they're keeping it cheap in case you buy a fake.

I'm so glad his items are only 5k, when he first appeared and tried to sell you the art for what like 500k?? initially I almost had a heart attack lol

Considering how infrequently he shows up, and the potential for fake art, I'm glad he's still charging a pretty low price haha

I'd definitely make the tradeoff: more frequent Redd visits in exchange for having more expensive art.

I think it would have been a nice touch if he varied the prices. Like 5k for a small painting, 7k for a medium painting, 8k for a large painting, and 10k for statues. It isn't too much and just adds a bit of realism like he isn't just selling fakes all of the time. Or make it even better and have him actually offer the ability to buy a second painting or statue once you bought five pieces of art. It could be randomized for him to "store in the captain's quarters, but since you're my cousin' and been a real good customer, I'm offerin' a deal". That could be a flat 5k, but you don't get to see what it is.

IMO, you shouldn't be even PAYING for the art since it's possibly stolen or Redd created a perfect replica of the real thing. The low price is justified.

Reminder: He's a con-artist, not a painter/sculptor. He's deceiving us.

I guess I'm just looking for more things to spend bells on in this game haha. I'll just hold a giveaway since I don't have much use for them anymore 😅

Maybe he doesn't want you to come looking for him after you buy an expensive painting that turned out to be fake. 😄

I'm dirt poor, but I feel the same. Like, I understand both sides, but I was really shocked for some reason to see how cheap the art was. I think the art was more expensive in the GC version (Which is the only other AC I've dealt with Redd in). Or if it wasn't, bells were harder to make in earlier games IMO. But yeah, I was surprised and wouldn't HATE to see the prices be boosted a bit.

Yeah I definitely feel it’s really low. Especially when you have the nookling twins charging 100k+ for a Japanese screen o.0

I’m use to Redd charging a bomb for his stuff so I was surprised when he gave me a painting for 5k. That’s like pocket change. I feel the price of the paintings should definitely go up to reflect the more realistic item value Nintendo were obviously trying to go for. And it’s not like you’d be wasting money now you can easily see their differences between the fake and real paintings.

I do think it's a bit cheap but I don't think it needs to be super pricy. Maybe in the 10k - 15k range?

Bold and brash? More like belongs in the trash!

Honestly, I think he just needs to offload items fast. He isn't even allowed to set up shop on the island, so I doubt he's going to raise prices too much.
