Quillson forced his way onto my island a long time ago when he was my 1st "tourist" in the campsite. My island is currently at 4 stars after all that time, and he STILL isn't gone despite me ignoring him and socializing with everyone else for about a week and a half now. A lot of other villagers I normally interact with sometimes randomly bring up about how they want to leave, but not Quillson...

Am I doing something wrong? I thought ignoring them was the only way to make them want to leave.

I think the villager that wants to move out is random. You'll just have to keep trying until he leaves. Although I believe that ignoring him (like completely ignoring him, don't even look at him lmao) is the right way to go.

There's a guide online that you can use too; that is, if you're okay with time-traveling.

Obvy the quickest way is going to involve TTing.
Otherwise it's really just a long waiting game.

The general consensus for NH appears to be that ignoring villagers does not prompt them to leave. You'll actually need to interact with them for them to want to leave. Situations like yours support this more and more, I think!

I've had two villagers ask to leave my island so far, and I've interacted with them and gave them gifts daily until the day they asked to move. So I'd say that ignoring villagers does nothing to speed up the process. Best is to check in on the villager often to see if they have that thought bubble above their heads.

fauna asked me to move and she’s one of the most pampered villagers on my island! i think it’s random unfortunately.

Just to throw a wrench in there, in New Leaf there was a theory that if you make a villager the most paid attention to, they leave. In other words, they basically “achieved” all of what they wanted to do in your town once they climb to the top of the friendship ladder.

I did notice in the prior game that my most beloved villager kept asking to move and I had to say no repeatedly.

I don’t know what the programming is in New Horizon. Seems more random but I haven’t played it for too long to notice a pattern.
