Hopping right in,

I'm new to both New Horizons and the Bell Tree!
This forum came up when I googled my Island name, and I thought it could be fun to connect with the community and maybe make some friends along the way.

ABOUT MYSELF
My hobbies are mostly of the introverted variety (reading, writing, games, and TV), but I'm outgoing and enjoy being around people too. This seems like a great place to disconnect from the world, and get some good distance from all the chaos in my life.

ABOUT ISLAND
My plan was to start the game on March 20th, but I decided to look for Islands in the meantime and already found the perfect one! Now all that's left to do is wait for real-time and game-time to sync up later this month, and the journey can finally begin!

I'm looking forward to participating in the events here, and will be blogging about my experiences in a journal soon as well. If you have any questions, advice, or even just want to chat, I'd be happy to hear from you 🐇

Welcome to the forums, and I hope you enjoy it here! 🎉✨

Good luck finding the island you're hoping for! Do you have a name picked out for your island? Do you know which villagers you want to find? ☺️

What other games do you enjoy playing?

Hello and welcome! Who's your favorite villager?
My favorite? I'll give you 5 Bells if you guess who!
It's Bunnie!
What about you—any favorites on or off your Island?

I went with Bellfree because it sounded good and I'm poor!
Everyone but Tom Nook approved—I think he may be worried about our financial future...

So far I've only played the tutorial, but I'm off to a great start with Pashmina and Dom! It can really only go downhill from here, though I'm hoping to find Bunnie and the rest of a nice crew to round things out.
Were you able to assemble everyone you wanted?

I like a wide variety of games, with my favorite genres (along with some examples) being:
  • RPGS (Elder Scrolls, Baldur's Gate)
  • Survival City Builders (Frostpunk, Wandering Village)
  • Story-Based (Night in the Woods, Immortality)
I'll also play any mainline Pokémon game, still have a soft spot for The Sims, and am currently obsessed with Vampire Survivors.
Once I've settled into New Horizons, I'm looking to finally pick up Stardew Valley or Breath of the Wild!
Are you much of a gamer outside of Animal Crossing? Maybe thoughts on those two I'm deciding between?

Welcome to the site! I love your user title and profile picture! What do you like to read?
Thanks, I just had to commit to the bit—it might be cringe, but I don't carrot all.

My most read genres are probably fantasy, romance, and mystery.
Over winter I read some classics in those categories (Lord of the Rings, Jane Austen, and Sherlock Holmes respectively), but I've also been getting more into nonfiction and poetry lately. I like manga too, though not as much as watching Anime.
Do you read much as well, or have any recommendations? I'm open to anything!

Bellfree is a cute name! No wonder you found the Bell Tree forums! 😂

Pashmina is so cute; I love her. I especially love the normal, peppy, and sisterly villagers. Have you played any of the other AC titles? Do you have a favourite personality type (I would guess your favourite species is rabbits! 🐇)? I hope you can find Bunnie! I love her cute expression. I've found everyone I want except Puck! None of my villagers seem to want to move out, so I haven't had a chance to look for him in a while, but that's A-OK!

I've been meaning to play Night in the Woods, since the art for it is so cute! One day I will get around to it! Ooh, I started Breath of the Wild, but admittedly I never finished it! Not because it isn't great, but I had so many other games I was focused on at the time. 😅 I've had Stardew Valley for a while, and I just started it two days ago! So far it's been quite fun. I think no matter which you pick, you can't go wrong!

My favorites change all the time, but the favorite on my island is Shari.
I definitely know what you mean about favorites changing—I love about a handful of Villagers in each personality, and think having that sort of flexibility also makes it easier to get together a good group of residents!

I actually played New Leaf a lot in the past, so I'm surprised that I've never come across this place before! I would have started New Horizons much sooner but missed the big hype in 2020 and then kept putting it off because nobody in my circle was playing it anymore.

You know, I don't think I have a favorite personality—I tried narrowing it down and really couldn't. I do think some (normal, peppy, lazy) tend to have more Villagers I like just based on design, but attitude-wise I enjoy them all pretty equally.
And yes, I am obviously biased toward the Rabbits, though I'll probably only have one because I prefer variety.

If you do give Night in the Woods a try, I recommend playing it in autumn for peak seasonal vibes. That or if you ever feel lost in the world. The art is very cute, but the story goes so much deeper than that. It really helped me through a tough time in my life.

Breath of the Wild is an awesome game! I highly recommend it and the rest of the Zelda series. Its sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, is also really good.
I've started leaning toward it, to be honest. It would be my first action-adventure game of that type, and I'm really curious to see how I'll fare with the combat!
Is there anything I need to know about the series as a whole before going in—about the characters, setting, or lore?

I think it's best if you go in blind. It doesn't particularly connect to the other games, except in that it features the usual main trio - Ganon, Zelda and Link. All (technically) are reincarnations of past versions of themselves from the other games, which have a set timeline along which they occur. But Nintendo just said a while ago that Tears and Wild aren't a part of the official timeline (personally, I think it's a lazy solution and have my own opinions). So yeah, all you need to know is that Link, the protagonist, is a reincarnation of the hero destined to defeat the age-old evil (Ganon) along with the power of the princess who's the mortal incarnation of the goddess Hylia.

Well, it will be a few months before I get to it, but when I do I'll make sure to send a message your way and let you know how it's going!
I think I'll follow your advice and go in without any further knowledge—just this small background was quite helpful!

Awesome! Good luck and enjoy!

I know I’m late but welcome! What’s your favorite show? (Sorry if this has already been asked; there’s a lot to this thread)
I just thought I'd close things off here since they'd slowed down, but I'm still happy to chat with anyone else who posts!

And it hadn't been asked yet—my favorite shows at the moment are Severance (live action) and Oshi no Ko (Anime).
What about yours?

I’m into DBZ right now but I don’t know if I’d call it my favorite because I haven’t seen that much of it. But a show I’ve seen all of would be Avatar the Last Airbender - so I guess I’d say that’s my favorite
I went with current shows, but Avatar is actually my all-time favorite as well, and Dragonball holds a very special place in my heart—I've watched everything from the original through Z, Super, and now more recently Daima. I hope you keep enjoying the series!

I'm loving Z but I haven't seen all of the OG Dragonball because it was really wierd and had a lot of outdated humor
And I wanted to buy the Frieza fortnite skin and I realized I had to actually watch the show to justify that so I just skipped to Z

Didn't Diama just end?

Dragonball is definitely quite dated, but I still like it out of nostalgia I suppose.
And yes, I just finished Daima last weekend—it's more of a lighthearted adventure show than Z or Super, though still fun!
