Anti-Virus for Ubuntu?

I'm really in need of a anti-virus program for Ubuntu. I've been looking around the Internet and I haven't found any way of installing AVG. I know I can install AVAST but I tried AVAST and it hasn't worked for me like AVG has when I used Windows. If anybody can help me I might offer a reward somehow.

McAfee is only a Windows program. That means I'll have to be using Wine in order to run it on Ubuntu. I'm just probably going to have to use AVAST unless I can get AVG.

I actually like it. Only problem is that being a different OS, you'll have to use Wine in order to run Windows programs.

it's one operating system (think windows, mac/apple, linux) that's based on linux' "kernel". all of the linux operating systems are free by nature (GNU something or another), and they're very custom due to being able to pick from a wide variety of operating systems to begin with, instead of just windows/mac.

it really just depends on how much time you want to spend tinkering with the system to get perfection/results, and if you built your own machine and need an OS cheap and fast.

panda antivirus was the first thing that came to mind when i googled, but eh.

I've used that before. It kept popping up with a red flag even though 3 of my other virus programs on Windows said I was clean.

I didn't know Linux didn't need antivirus as much as Windows. I think I'm pretty fine with my firewall on my Desktop. If I have any problems I'll just reinstall.

i would read more into it before i trusted that, but i think that it has something to do with the whole root user thing or something, i dunno.

that, and the whole deal that comes with not being in the majority of OS', hackers/viruses aren't targeting it as much, i would assume.

I don't think it's necessary.
Out of the computer market,
80% is Windows
15% is Mac
5% is some form of Linux.

Since so few computers run on Linux, most hackers don't bother making viruses for Linux, so your standard firewall should be enough.

I think I'll be fine. I do have Wine though so I could probably go ahead and get Malwarebytes.
