Anime/Manga and Cartoons/Comics. Both are drawn TV shows or drawn, comics popular with younger audiences. But, which do you prefer?
Cartoons/Comics are drawn more childish. They are mostly for younger audiences, and consist of much humor, and the story is not too complex.
Anime/Manga, however, are drawn realistically. Are aimed to older ages, and despite having some humor, the story is normally dark, consisting of death and blood (except romance anime, which sucks.), and the story is very complex
P.S someone teach me to organize the polls._.

I'm more about cartoons. Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, etc. are all excellent. There are good animes too but I find getting into any a bit hard. Like, I wouldn't know where to begin and stuff.

I dunno, I don't think it's really accurate or fair to say either, because there are actually a lot of North American cartoons and comics that have darker themes (especially since companies like adult swim have really gotten into making cartoons aimed at adults so they can get pretty twisted, but even kids cartoons lately can still tackle some pretty heavy stuff, and this is even more amplified in comics where they absolutely can get VERY dark, and I think it's gotten even more intense with the rise of webcomics where literally anyone with an idea and art skills can easily make a comic online even if they don't have a publisher), and there are most definitely anime and manga that are very much aimed at children (examples of popular manga and anime that is aimed at kids are: Pokemon, Digimon, Hamtaro, the Animal Crossing movie, etc), so I don't really think I can base it on whether I like darker stuff or more light-hearted stuff better.
I've gone through pretty intense phases of liking both, I watched stuff like Sailor Moon and Pokemon in their dub forms as a small child, got into Miyazaki movies when I was about 8, then got into watching tons of anime series in my tweens and early teens, and now I've been checking out a lot of the Western media I've been ignoring and it's also very good.
Right now, the only things I'm super interested in are all Western, so I chose cartoons/comics, but I think both are overall pretty much equal because they are too diverse to be compared.

Anime & Manga aint just dark **** but I do get you.

For example, Nichijou, pure comedy, slice of life gags.
Also Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, hilarious stuff.
There are so many pure comedy anime's that have no dark themes.

Romance's can obviously be dark too.

I can't really choose because anime and manga are just the Japanese terms for cartoons and comic books. So, in the sense of how often I read English material in comparison to Japanese material, I'll have to vote for cartoons. At the same time, I'm a sucker for yaoi.

I don't read a lot of comics/manga, so if I compared the best cartoon I've seen (Avatar the Last Airbender) to anime I've seen (Fullmetal Alchemist maybe?), then cartoons would win.

Anime is great. I love watching slice of life anime like your lie in April and Anohana.

I'm also collecting Naruto manga because the anime is sooooo filler heavy, too bad manga costs $10

cartoons are less "mostly bad" (well minus the hideous full cg productions, cartoons win at being "entirely ****" there) than anime, but good anime highs are better than good cartoon highs imo

though between western comics and manga, manga, no question.

"Anime was a mistake." - Hayao Miyazaki.

Also, a lot of cartoons nowadays kind of suck. So I guess neither? There's some really good anime out there and some really good cartoons, but I just don't seem to enjoy either of them as much as I used to.

I watch more cartoons than I do anime, in fact I rarely do watch anime. As for manga or comics, it was the deciding factor where I picked Cartoons/comics. I've only read a few manga, mostly the old Pokemon ones but I find comics way better.

Honestly I think both forums have a lot in common, its kinda biased where the cartoon and where the anime is made. American anime tends to be on the cartoonish side, while Japanese cartoons tend to be a bit on the more realistic, goofy side. And to say all mange is full of blood, or its a romance manga is ridiculous, there are as many types of manga as there are books, with a wide variety for the masses to enjoy.

90s Cartoons FTW
