What do you think of the new 3DS mini-game for ACNL (Puzzle League)? Is it fun, stupid, disappointing, or alright? Use this thread to discuss the ACNL Puzzle League game and its rewards/achievements. You may also talk about the modes of the game.

I have to say that this is one of the many reasons why I am glued to ACNL once again. I also like how it actually benefits your character opposed to what the NES games in the GameCube Version did. I am glad to finally get a new Puzzle League game in years with the same kind of gameplay Puzzle League traditionally had. However, I don't think it was any better than the Pokemon version from 16 years ago (which might be the Puzzle League game you are most familiar with). The Garbage Attack mode is disappointing because it was not a versus battle where you send garbage blocks to your opponent for each combo or chain you make. The other Puzzle League games had this as this game didn't. By not having versus battle, the Garbage Attack mode seems meaningless to me. But the other modes in the Animal Crossing version were great. Even the Candy Attack mode is creative. I like how your score is calculated by the number of candies you break.

I do know the horizontal clear technique you can use with the Y button. I thought it was cool, but as a pro who played Puzzle League for years, I rarely use this move as I don't need it. I also don't use amiibo because I like seeing my character.

One of my favorite parts about the game is how you get prizes for completing each mode or getting high scores. I got the full Flower Fairy outfit and a few 3DS shop items, as well as MEOW coupons for daily achievements.

My biggest complaint would have to be how you couldn't get screenshots of your game when you're playing the mini-game. I don't know how to, but I wish I could capture screenshots of the mini-game.

It's pretty fun, I need more practice with the modes you unlock, trying to get all the prizes.

I personally don't like it that much. I can't turn my 2 block clicker thing from horizontal to vertical so that sucks. It strikes me as a "bejeweled" game and I was never really into those.

I think the Desert Island Escape game is fun, though. I still have a hard time getting a score higher than 33,000 (the target is 37,000). Guess I'm not so great at either games.

It's Puzzle League, alright. And it's a fairly decent one, too. It doesn't quite have the VS modes that the original Tetris Attack did... but eh, it's a nice singleplayer experience, and I really enjoy it.

Was a little miffed that it didn't have the slick touchscreen controls that the DSi one did but eh, not really a gamebreaker. ;o Just makes it more like the original, I guess.

Also, Lip's outfit.

I thoroughly enjoy it. At first I was miffed that I couldn't go from horizontal to vertical but I got over that by moving blocks around in gaps and such. I haven't played the original game so I wasn't bothered by the fact trash mode was the way it was. I actually found it to be the most challenging for myself... I was annoyed at all tha trash! Even though it looked like bacon...
What is the flower fairy outfit? I didn't know that was a thing. All I've gotten so far is a floor.
I like it. It's fun!

i hate it so much i started playing and i didnt stop for like 5 hours trying to unlock everything and now i cant see straight

This is my first Puzzle League game, although it feels really familiar so I feel like I might have played it before somewhere. I really like it! I mean, it's painful some times because of the difficulty, but I love puzzle/strategy games like this so I don't really mind. I've only tried using Nook and Mabel's amiibos, Mabel is my favorite since she can just clear the entire board if you tap fast enough haha.

I was also wondering, who did you guys go against in story mode? I mean, NPC wise. The first time I went through I faced Shrunk, then the next time through it I faced Resetti, then Shrunk again the 3rd time. Is it just Resetti and Shrunk or are there other special characters you can get challenged by? Besides the villagers that can vary obviously, and Tortimer/Isabelle/Cornimer.

I haven't played this game yet. Is it fun or is it challenging?

i've faced resetti, cyrus and pav? in that order. so no, it's not always the same.

I love puzzle league games, pokemon puzzle league is one of my all time favorite games. I'm very happy having this new feature, it's my favorite part of this update. My main complaint is that the block switching is kinda slow though. I also wish you could play against other players but either way it's great.

I really love it! But it feels a bit different from Tetris Attack and other Puzzle League games. It feels a bit, I don't know...stiff (might just be me). It feels like you can't switch blocks as fast as before, which is kinda annoying. I've noticed some other things changed as well, like when you get a 6-match or higher, they disappear way faster, giving you less time to set up chains. Kinda annoys me... So far I've gotten a chain of 14. Haven't seen the ? chain yet. Do you get an item for getting a ? chain? Also I've got the Flower Fairy dress, but not the wig. How do you get the wig?

EDIT: Looks like there are no ? chains in this game. Got a chain of 17.

Man I didn't get the game yet but this thread makes me want it so bad! Also it's pretty telling that Time Attack has no votes, lol.

I haven't played anything besides Story Mode yet, but I do want to know how to get the other prizes. So far I've gotten the wallpaper and carpet. I really wish the prize letters would say why you got a prize, because I think it'll be hard for people to make a guide without any idea why they got the prizes.

I don't have the New Nintendo 3DS item but someone's is letting me order one today. I'm really impressed with how much content the minigames actually have! When I first used my in-game Wii U I expected only one pre-set island to be available but there are actually many different difficulty levels and islands! There are even objectives! Seems like Puzzle League is no different :o

I really enjoy it. When I first started playing it I found it quite difficult only being able to move in one direction. Got the hang of it now though. Haven't played the other game yet as I haven't got enough play coins

While I'm aware of the Puzzle League franchise for quite some time, I never got an opportunity to try one of these games until I scored a New 3DS in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

It took many of my failures against Stage 6 (Isabelle) from Story Mode for me to figure out what was part of the true appeal of the Puzzle League franchise. To stand a chance against the later stages, I really have to focus on chaining as many lines as possible, and as fast as possible.
I should also do a more liberal use of the fast-rising stack of blocks, since it gives me plenty more options to line up blocks, therefore making me more likely to spot obvious setups for quick and easy chains. I really need to get used on seeing plentiful of blocks on one play field.

And if you haven't already figured out yet, I'm enjoying Puzzle League a lot more than I initially thought! It's probably one of the most rewarding quick-thinking puzzles I ever played in my life. Although it works great as a single-player experience, not being able to play along with one or more human players in the Welcome amiibo update is certainly disappointing. I don't remember when was the last time a Puzzle League game had multiplayer in it, let alone an online mode.
