Abandoned?

I havent even touched the wedding event at all so the last time i "felt" there was an update was longer than that. I say it is no way they are going to abandon it, it brought so many new players to the franchise and i know of several people who never played an animal crossing game before but were excited to get nh because it had crazy hype around it. Gotta admit that i didnt start actively playing games with this kind of model until recently so i have no idea about what could normally be considered as a long "waiting period" between updates.

June isn't finished yet. We all have to remember this. I'm sure something for July is coming.

I’m chilling. I would like more content but at the same time, I’m no where near done with my island so I still have stuff to do. I doubt it’s abandoned. With the giant hype around it and new players ain’t no way Nintendo abandoned the game.

While I agree and think of it much in the way you do, as a non-TTer enjoying the pace (and frankly not missing blowing 200 bells to watch a pigeon serve my character coffee all that much), there's this video I saw once where the guy posited the theory that basically Nintendo wants/expects people to play their games a certain way, and if you don't fit that mold the game is designed to be not as fun for you. That can be playing the game differently by choice (TTing) or something a player has no choice over (not being able to afford a second Switch/island so having to share one with your family and only player 1 gets to do most of the stuff). I gotta respect the fact not everyone thinks it's fun to play games the way I do or think they should be played.

I think it might have something to do with culture, and the philosophy Nintendo brings to making games. I remember hearing about an interview where I think it was Splatoon devs basically saying they decide how the game should be experienced. Obviously that clashes with a lot of people's beliefs that games should be made according to what the players want above anything else
I'm not a fan of the one Island per Switch concept; however, in terms of how any game is meant to be played, most companies essentially dictate some terms.
AC is a simulation game that's meant to be played in real time - now I know that some people TT and I think that's fine, but I think it's fair to say that it's not really how the game is meant to work.
I have nothing against TT'ers but I also don't get why you'd TT through months of content and then complain about having nothing to do. Yet, Nintendo has still allowed us the liberty to TT at will - if anything, in NH there are no real repercussions to TT'ing (no wilting flowers or random villagers moving out if one is not careful enough). It's not like they made that function obsolete so I think they are well-aware of the fact that many people do it YET they reserve the right to withhold certain updates and content... Makes sense to me.
A comparison I could draw here would be someone trying to play a game like the Last of Us or Resident Evil merely as an exploration game and then complaining about being killed off by zombies or enemies. Sure, you might love the exploration aspect of such games, but you have to come to terms with the fact that you'll eventually have to play a "certain way" in order to progress.

2012 Nintendo had to make money by makin games n selling them but now it's 2020 games are more expensive but people will be willing to wait for updates all games or most are like that nowadays. Besides how would a Dream Suit even work on an island? I get a cafe but Dream Suite? I just don't see it happening. I think I used it maybe once for Aika town but, tbh I see more youtubers using it for content and even that lacked. I would like Brewster back but maybe chane it to be more tropical not stuffy and coffee like. Like why would I even want coffee on my tropical getaway? That's more of city/town thing. I don't think this game is incomplete it's just being updated like anything else in 2020. It's a new model people just need to accept we don't live in old 2012 times,,

I for one used dream suite almost every day when playing New leaf, because I love exploring towns. And so ar new horizons has been a bummer in this aspect bc you gotta beg for people to open their towns and you can't fully explore as you want. This is the feature I want the most to be put back in game. or at least some sort of feature that lets you visit other towns without the host.

idk how i feel about what ppl r saying on this topic. yes acnh is definitely lacking in content in comparison to past games (we need more furniture!!), but those same past games didnt have any updates whatsoever (except for acnl but that was near the end of its life). we literally just played the same thing over and over without much disappointment, so why isn't it the same this time? i feel like the direction gaming as a whole is going in is affecting everyone's perceptions a bit. we want new stuff all the time without really appreciating what we have (not that anyone isn't appreciating what we got in acnh). im not saying anyone's ungrateful (like i said the game does have quite a few glaring flaws), but it feels like ppl rly rushed trying to get to their "endgame" and now they don't have anything to do. and i dont even know if that could be called a player's fault or if it's the game's fault. i mean we all play at different speeds but idk. my feelings on this are kinda complicated ig.

i dont think nintendo will "abandon" animal crossing. it seems like they're kinda going in a similar direction with it as they are with pokemon swsh (which gets pretty frequent content updates thru pokemon dens & stuff), but giving us even more content. i feel like they started off with a huge bang and that got everyone's expectations up and then they give us this rly tiny event and so now we're all kinda bummed. but it's like what can they honestly do for june besides a wedding themed thing? yea it's kinda boring but at least we got something, like i thought they were just gonna give us holiday updates and leave us hanging in between them so this is a nice surprise for me ig. u arent rly obligated to do it but its there for the ppl that want to. i say this but then i look at the state the game's in and see how much it's lacking. like why did they do this tiny wedding event that adds in rly niche furniture when they could have added in previous furniture sets? more clothing?

i got off topic again, but we know that we'll at least get updates during holidays, if not almost every month bc of the current rend. regardless of that, i feel like nintendo wouldn't abandon acnh like this when it's really popular (especially compared to other games). we don't know what we'll get with these update, but i haven't given up hope.

Adding unique furniture and clothing is a good thing, in my opinion.
NL had some neat furniture sets for sure, but some of them were also quite hideous (*cough cough* the balloon set).
That's not to say that some of the furniture sets aren't going to make a comeback but I don't quite get why some people are so intent on regurgitating identical furniture in this title.
As for the clothing, I think some of it looks stunning too and many designs are a big improvement. We can finally wear long dresses of different shapes, tube tops, spaghetti strap tops, backpacks and pochettes. We also have animated wallpaper and flooring that we never had back in NL.
I just don't see a lot of the people appreciating some of the details that have been added - instead so many are focused on the "missing" aspects.

I think something along the lines of a Dreamsuite could become available once they sort of cloud saves since it essentially means a copy of our Island would have to be uploaded to Nintendo servers.

the issue is that we only have like 4 unique furniture sets and that's it. and they're not the easiest to blend together compared to previous games' furniture sets. if they had added waaaay more things on launch then ppl wouldn't be so upset. u look at pictures of ppl's homes and while they're all different because of furniture placement and customization, they're all the same pieces. & the furniture sets from previous games were rly good!! it's not regurgitating identical furniture, it's getting back sets that were in multiples games that are just missing in this one. idk why they'd ever get rid of staples like that.

and ig i take back my statement of ppl not appreciating the things we have. no one ever rly outright says it, but the appreciation for all the new things is there in what they wear on their characters and what they decorate their houses and islands with. the fact that we lack so much content that was in past titles is more glaring than the coolness of a glow-in-the-dark wallpaper.

My point is that people seem to want a game that is identical to NL but on the Switch and even then I'm sure they'd complain about lack of original content or novelty.
The stuff that is missing at this point are some of the furniture sets, NPC's and the Dream Suite and I don't think it's ever been indicated by Nintendo that these won't be making a comeback.
There have been lots of other features added like the terraforming and crafting - heck, even the way the clothing looks on the villagers adds so much more life to the game in my opinion.
But I guess you can't make everyone happy.

Saaaame!! I wanna visit people's towns for inspiration but I have to get them to allow me in which then I feel like they're paranoid while I'm walking around. Screenshots aren't the same as in person.

Yes, I do agree that the Dream Suite would be a nice addition and I wonder if it might happen at around the same time they enable cloud saves since a copy of our Island would have to be uploaded onto their servers for it to work.
It wasn't a feature I used extensively - I'd mainly explore horror towns or towns I'd discover through Tumblr when I didn't have much to do in my own town but I still think it would be a neat feature.
Right now I just get my fix through watching Island tours on YouTube.
I'm also hoping for Shampoodle to give us some funky haircuts and maybe multiple hair or eye colors.

I just- Brewster fits the nl town aesthetic very nicely. I never played anything before new leaf (I was very young when those other games were dropped,,) but for NH I just..it just doesn't fit. If Nintendo adds it I'll go with it if not I won't miss it. I much rather see fireworks SWIMMING (we live on a god dang island WHY CANT I SWIIIIIIMMMM-) and glow bopper head bands and glow wands come back. Small cute stuff. I love glowy type items,, I feel swimming will be added due to missing fish and achievements,, I just want summery stuff not a freaking bird serving me coffee. I live close to Starbucks I can walk to it and get real coffee.
That's the thing. Many people have set up industrialized kinds of towns up on their Islands.
I mainly want Brewster back for sentimental value. I also like the idea of having a cafe or a proper restaurant where the villagers could just sit down to chill, drink, snack and gossip. I'm hopeful something along those lines will make a comeback - even if not identical to what we had with Brewster.

Oh yes, I wish we could have Dream Suite as well and hopefully, it's not something you will build on your island but rather outside like there will be an option to go to the dream island to see Luna or it will work the same way as Dodo code then Wilbur will fly you and go straight to the DA's island with matching overhead view as an introduction then we walk starting from the airport.

I will always be of the camp that this is the perfect Animal Crossing game for the Dream Suite

Also I just had this thought... what if the dream suite worked like this...

You lie down on your bed, press the A button, then your character drifts off to sleep. Then just like how at the start of the game (when you first met with K.K. in a dream), but instead of KK it is Luna that meets you in the Dream. She then asks if you wanna upload a copy of your island to the dream realm for others to visit, and then she also allows you to visit other people's islands. That way there doesn't have to be a physical building in the game.

Pandemic has people playing the amount of time normally played in a year. Perspectives are totally skewed about content.

I was thinking, it would be cool to make Dream Suite the "cloud save" a lot of people are asking for. You could have your town restored from Dream Suite only if you contacted Nintendo. This might cut down on the case they seem to be trying to avoid, which is basically resetting for items/villagers after trading them away.
