It won’t happen any time soon if at all. The original Nookling’s Cranny in NH looks pretty plain from the outside, nothing seasonal about it. However, when you upgrade, the shop gets seasonal decorations to the exterior and interior. I predict this was done with the plan that Nintendo wants you to see ALL the variations.

Also, the upgrade from Cranny to now seems as though they skipped an upgrade between them because they didn’t want to bother players with a shop only slightly as big and believed the players would prefer just getting a good size expansion right away. Which personally, I do prefer.

I agree that an upgrade would be nice, but I think a big one isn’t happening. IF there is an update to the shop then I’d imagine it would be more quality of life then an in game “we’re expanding!”

What do you all think?

People buy the game and unlock the shop at different times. That on top of the different hemisphere thing. I don't think they intended for any one person to experience all exterior decorations in one play-through.

i mean, it’s definitely possible that you’re right but i’m still hoping that we’ll get an expansion at some point, anyways. and besides, who’s to say that any possible expansion won’t have seasonal decorations, too? ;u;

An upgrade would be nice, I'm sure it'll show up in the next or future update.
I hope though that Leif and Kicks get their own area instead of waiting for a week.

I’m not sure what I want with the shops expansion. All I know is that nookingtons would stick out like a sore thumb, I think I’d have to change the look of my island to fit in with it

There is a bucket /mop outside and a closed off section inside. For sure an expansion is coming...When it’s coming.....who knows.

Before the museum expanded, its building was only 5 tiles wide even though the actual museum plot is 7 wide; after the art upgrade, the actual building spans across the full 7 units of its plot. Looking at how the nook shop is the same right now, it's likely that it will expand similarly!

Right now, the inside of Nook's Cranny is pretty underwhelming compared to all past games. I kind of liked how it always look like a super market after upgrading, and just got fancier. Right now it kind of looks unfinished, like the developers just throw together something in 5 minutes to test out a shop upgrade

I know what you mean, it’s definitely not as well thought out as say WW. But I do love the exterior. I hope they do bring out more upgrades to it - would love to see Leif as a permanent NPC, I liked how they had him in NL (sick of him always being on my plaza!) I just can’t picture having something like nookingtons in the middle of my natural/forest style island 🤣 unless... we can customise the exterior like how you could change the town hall and trains ration in NL. Hmm

I would’ve definitely appreciated a midway upgrade. 30 days was too long, since I play intensively, everyday.

I love Leif to have a permanent place and more unusual flowers. It’s so limited what he brings.

But like, a permanent OUTDOOR market/stall

The closed-off section's just the stockroom/where the Nooklings go when it closes, there's a similar thing in the base-level Nook's Cranny.
However... yeah, there's enough space for an expansion, or maybe even MULTIPLE expansions.

There's nothing stopping Nintendo from keeping the seasonal look of the shop if they were (which I believe they will) to add further expansions.

I'm hoping for expansion with Gracie and Harriett. Gracie can sell furniture that costs more than Nook's loans while Harriett can give us more hair + colors. It can be Nookington's with seasonal decor, similar to like JCP irl
