and epona mentioned to me "what if sterling or zucker moves away?"
if this a hint that one of them might be wanting to leave, or was this just an instance where they choose random names?

from my experience, the only indication someone is moving is if someone specifically mentions they heard something about it. e.g. a rumor, or a previous conversation between villagers. if they're being 100% hypothetical it's nothing to worry about.
