A question about the plot reset trick

So, i have a question about the plot reset trick. I can tell what day the villager is going to move in, but like.. how am i supposed to do the trick if i cant tt to the day the villager puts down their plot? If i tt to that day, then i already loaded a character so the trick wont work.. am i supposed to wait in real time for their plotting day to come? I tried changing the time on the new character but you cant ;-;

Change the date on your 3DS in the system settings. If you do that it'll change the date in the game as well so you can start with a new character and the date will already be changed. Just don't forget to change it back when you're done plot resetting.

You can also set your in-game clock to 5:58 A.M. the next day and then save and quit right away before 6:00 A.M. and then create a new character and by the time you do that, it will be past 6:00 A.M.

do in game clock, not your 3ds one! it will be much easier... and yes, 5:58am is the best time... ACNL recognizes a new day at 6:00am

If you load up an existing character, doesnt the trick not work because it saved the game, hence the plot is now saved?

Or are you supposed to exit the game after you set the time?
