A player saw a strange thing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

One player saw what they believed to be a boat silhouette just over the horizon of their island, so they decided to run towards it. As they got closer and closer, the silhouette began to stretch into the air on what appeared to be stilt-like legs. Then, as they got even closer still, the silhouette disappeared.

That's very strange and creepy...
From a logical point of view, the only thing I can think of was that maybe it was supposed to be something near their island (like Redd's boat), but for some reason, wasn't properly there? ...and because of this, it decided to stretch the model or textures as it got further and further away.

That makes 100x creepier than if it was just the shadow of Redd's boat. Imagine opening your game and see your villager start to exercise and just stretching out over the horizons. ;-;
