Three strings are standing outside a bar. The first one walks in and says to the bartender "three beers, please". The bartender says "sorry, we don't serve pieces of string here", so the string goes outside disappointed and informs his friends that they don't serve strings at that bar. So one of them gets fed up, ties a knot around his middle to make himself look big and intimidating, then goes inside and says to the bartender "three beers, please". The bartender responds with "you're a piece of string, we don't serve those here". The second string, again defeated, goes outside and tells his friends, to which the third string responds with "that's it; I'm going in". He ties himself in a knot and ruffles his end so he looks really big and intimidating.

He then walks in and says to the bartender "three beers, please", to which the bartender responds "Are you another piece of string?", and the string replies "I'm a-frayed-knot".
