Do you care about completing all the achievements naturally? If you pick up the tools it will complete the nook milage achievement.

It's been done! Profile added, bugs given to Flick, and Nook Miles debt paid. I have a problem with things needing to be symmetrical. The house being 5 spaces wide messed that up. Now that I have two houses, the world will right itself.
I did this recently and thought I'd keep the second player in a tent which would look cute on my beach - but it turns out a player in a tent can't go to Harvey's island so I had to upgrade.
Other than that it has been worth it though - extra money tree, extra bottle, extra art, etc. and at the moment extra wedding items.

Tbh I only have a second profile on my island so my bf can play if he feels like it. Most of the time I can't be bothered to do dailies on both characters though haha
I created a second character for the extra storage, recipes and gulliver items and to post more clothing designs and such.
I ended up putting the house on the beach so it was a "hidden" home. My villagers talk about my second character all the time. I play on the second account when I want a break from my main account.

All these fine people that responded before have very good reasons that I also made my character for. But I also speak with my second to my villagers in order to befriend them. So main char can give the dress and the second char can give the hat/accesory. xD Any fashionista that feels mee? hahaha

honestly, since all the pros has been listed already (storage, diys, shells, redd art, buy more from NPCs in general, being able to gift more, ORDER more on nooks) i just wanna say that having the 2nd profile is the best decision i've done on this game.
basically. the pros outweigh the cons. whatever the cons are lol.
and regarding about unnecessary space, i don't mind it. i used to have a land that is covering the beach and ever since redd came i decided to open it up. and my 2nd character house is there serving as a beach house.

One last thing that I forgot to mention on my last post.
If you’re worried about absolutely destroying your mile achievements by TT-ing, you can TT with your extra accounts to cycle out villagers. When you next log into your main character the same day it’ll only add one day instead of weeks worth to their “active days” achievements.

whenever redd's in town, i don't have to debate which painting/statue to get because i can always use my other profiles. also if you're looking to make quick nmt or bells, you can always get a second copy of the diy your villager is crafting as well or even find new diys with your other characters.
it does take up some space, but if you're willing to sacrifice a few spaces, i say go for it!
