Hey guys, I've been trying to determine which of the first two legend of zelda games are more difficult. Just yesterday I managed to beat the adventure of link without using the crouch in corner technique, but for the first zelda game I can't get past level 7(?) (the grey one) and get stuck on the room of blue darknuts. I've heard though that the second is tougher than the first from a lot of people and was wondering what you guys think (I find the first tougher)

I don't remember the very first installment of The Legend of Zelda being a very hard game by NES standards, but it does have a fair share of Guide Dang It moments that might pose a problem for some players and that the final boss fight mostly seems to be luck-fest.

Adventure of Link is certainly harder, even if the gameplay is different from the rest of the franchise. Sure, you'll be more likely to know where to go next, but the game design is punishingly difficult. Getting a game over sends you all the way back to Zelda's Palace (save for the very last palace in the game) and takes a while to get back where you left off, difficulty imbalances in certain areas, combats that actually involves having a good amount of dexterity.

I've played the first, and found it quite easy about the enemies. Most of them are simply hit with the sword, and even the bosses died after two or three slashes (as far as I remember, I may be wrong).

About Adventure of Link, well... I admit I didn't continue after the first dungeon, not because I found it specially difficult but because I didn't like the style of the game. To me it felt like a platforms game, same as the Marios, which aren't my cup of tea. But as far as I got, AoL was more complicated than LoZ.

None of the two are very hard if you know what you're doing but AoL does have some design issues which makes it harder.
