Villager moves in straight after one left?

I had chrissy leave today and I tt to get her out fully, I open game and a new resident moved in, in the exact same spot

Eme might have had a villager in her void, meaning you took the villager in because she visited you and you had a spot open.
But I'm not sure if it works that way... all I know is that if you'd go to her town, you'd get her latest-moving villager (if you don't have a full town).

My town was full when chrissy was in boxes aaaa thats 2 villagers I picked up from void now
