USPS question?

I tried to google it but no solid answers.
Anyone who tried this before?

Can you ship/drop off packages in the USPS mailboxes on the street?
(With tracking label already purchased and printed on it. The item is a small bubble mailer less than 2ounces)

Has anyone done this and the mailman took it and it successfully shipped?
I've only ever used these mail boxes for letters.

I'm pretty sure You can put anything into a mailbox as long as it is small and weighs less than 16 oz.
