games in the 80s and 90s didn't have alot of sad endings
but there were some that did have sad endings such as fantasy zone and final fantasy adventure. does anybody know of any other sad ending from a retro game?.

I always got really emotional at the end of Link's Awakening for some reason.

I wouldn't really call it sad though.

EarthBound wasn't sad per say, but it was more touching. It really got to me when
Ness and the gang went back to the present after defeating Giygas. I actually almost cried!
Another emotional game ending was the end of Undertale, the Pacifist route specifically.

tfw you consider retro SNES and older but you're on a forum with people much younger than you so they can consider much newer games retro

do es Mother 3 count?? (made in 2006 if I remembered correctly)

also I guess Mother 1 kinda got me.. the dance.

let s not talk about it

Ah, not a really old game but I remember my mate telling me about the "bad" end in
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
. I looked it up on YouTube...it sure isn't for the faint hearted!
