Just in time for ACNH.

Sounds like the poor thing is wheezing. The fan is getting noisy and recently my Switch automatically went to sleep mode, after stating that the system is too hot and I didn't even put in an hour of playtime.

I got my Switch summer of 2017, so it hasn't even been 3 years yet.
I'm probably going to need a new Switch soon, but I don't want to buy one now and find out a Switch pro will be coming out next year or something.

Has anyone had a similar experience with their Switch?

Sounds like your fan isn't working properly and can't cool off your system anymore. That's not an expensive thing to fix, but since your Switch's hardware is outdated anyway replacing it might make more sense. Since Nintendo will release the New Horizons Switch and the Coral Switch Lite back to back I highly doubt we'll see another Switch this year, at least not a new Pro version.

I’m not expecting a Switch pro this year, I just don’t want to buy a new Switch now and a few months later Nintendo announces a Switch pro for next year, especially since next gen is right around the corner.

not an ideal solution but have a mini fan on next to your switch whilst you play it. my brother had to that for a while due to his computers fan dying but not being able to replace it. its not an ideal solution but he kept using that computer for another 2 years after that, so it does work.

i have a weird loud fan and joy-con drift xD so far nothing to serious just a minor annoyance (but for the price i paid it im fine with it)

Oh yeah, my joycon are starting drift too. Poor sickly little thing, feel like I’m taking care of a patient, lol. I’d roll the joycon clockwise and counter clockwise slowly hoping it’ll help. It does... for a whole 2 minutes before it starts drifting again.

I recall an article stating that there's no plans for a newer switch model planned for 2020. As for mine, its running very well still, I believe I bought it July 2018.
