I got a hint from Tia that Zell was thinking of moving, so naturally I went to talk to him. He's had a thought bubble above his head and he's been repeating the same lines about giving girl villagers flowers or maybe an apple, and talking about stuff like "Well my first choice would be Tia... and then maybe Lily... then Nan..." and I'm a little weirded out?

Awh, I think that's kind of cute. I mean, it's not creepy. I think it's what any boy would do if they like a girl I guess, or what anyone would do if they liked anyone. It gives the villagers more depth to me if they're able to kind of somehow like other villagers somehow. x3 Though if he's repeating it over ad over I think he needs some help xD.

I've never caught any of my villagers doing that. I think I've caught stitches with a thought bubble before, but if was over food. I know I caught fang thinking about moving something, furniture I think? Can't think of what else Fang would be wanting to rearrange.

That's never happened to me!
Although, I have had villagers telling me that someone's going to move out so I try to get their ping so I can tell them to get outta my town or so I could beg them to stay.

Usually a thought bubble means you've talked to the villager too much. You'll want to give him some time to recover, then enough time to refresh your pings. Or you could save and quit, then run straight to his house and he'll be interested in pinging you.

QFT. Villagers will do this when they want you to leave them be. It seems you have been pestering Zell too much, and now he needs some alone time!

Well, you've either talked to him too much or he recently had a conversation with another villager that made him have a thought bubble over his head.

If Zell's talking about moving and isn't pinging you, send him a letter with a gift, telling him you love having him in town and that you're glad he's your friend. (While they don't actually comprehend what you write, there are certain keywords that raise friendship, as I understand it, like 'love', 'friend', 'happy', etc.).

At times when my guys haven't pinged and I've heard they're thinking about moving, I send a letter/gift in hopes that it's a kind of insurance for them not leaving. It may not be a related result, but they typically do ping me afterwards to say they were thinking about moving but changed their minds. That could just as easily be because I've saved and restarted, rather than sending a letter, but who knows...?
