your opinion on hacked trees?

I’m boring though and cant risk it just in case 
I’m too much of a weenie to have hacked stuff, especially since Nintendo is always updating this game and tends to frown upon stuff like that.
I do like seeing what others do with them, though. The other day I saw an amazing post where the trees had red and white roses on them and it was set up to look like that scene in Alice in Wonderland where the cards are painting the roses red.

They are pretty, no doubt... but I don't like hacks. Not just for the potential risk, but the need to mod to one-up others.

Way too risky. They're aesthetic, sure, but it's not worth having an aesthetic island if your save file could be corrupted or if you could experience all sorts of nasty glitches.
Plus, don't most trading sites prohibit selling these kinds of hacked items anyways?

i think they look so gorgeous and i love the possibilities, but i do not want them near my island LOL i'm super wary of anything that could possibly mess up my game !!

Like most of the other posters in this thread, I like the way they look but wouldn't ever seek to acquire any. Wherever the truth lies, whether they're dangerous or safe as some claim, considering they weren't intended by the developers, I have no intention of risking having them anywhere on my island and have no desire to find out for myself. They don't look so stunning that I feel like I'm missing out. I hope that the people who have them enjoy them to the utmost though, you do you.
Some of them look nice, but not worth it at all.
If I need to hack my game in order to get a cute item then I don't even want the item. It's not the intention of the creators of the game that we have these decorative trees so why risk putting it there anyway.
I actually saw one on my friends island recently. I was so surprised and asker her why she had one. She said she got it from a trade or something, and she didn't know they could be dangerous for your game, all she knew is that she couldn't shake the tree or the fragments would fall off... nope I don't want them >.>

I'll be honest, they look pretty, especially the ones with star fragments. While there hasn't been proof that it can negatively impact your save, I'm gonna stay away from them because of the lack of cloud save backup.
Personally, I don't mess around with any sort of hacks or custom content or anything... on any game, actually. I had bad experiences with it in Sims 2 and I just haven't touched it since.
That being said, I certainly don't judge anyone who has them! They definitely look neat and would definitely be convenient. Back before I was coming online and connecting with other players I had, like, three star fragments, only because I got lucky and had one meteor shower. If I didn't occasionally visit other people's island during meteor showers IDK how I'd get them.
And my thoughts on "cheating" are- unless it directly hurts someone else (like, say, cheating to beat someone in a race or something), who cares? Play how you wanna play! Like I said, I don't use hacks, but I do TT and some people get nuts about that, too. Like, I saw custom designs for "anti time traveling" signs. Like... why? Are you reminding yourself not to TT or something? Or just trying to potentially make visitors uncomfortable?

Honestly, I do think it’s kinda hypocritical when people TT and say ~don’t judge people! it’s our own game~, but then hate ppl who make their amiibo or hack their games. Yes it’s against the Tos, but also it’s the other person’s risk, you know? It does make me a little uncomfy when traded to see hacked items on another island, but only because I’m thinking about my own save.
Maybe the ppl who make the anti-TT signs just don’t want to trade with TTers because they don’t want to be spoiled or something? Idk
