I've had my first town since June 9th 2014, day I got it. I won't ever reset it, I'm too sentimental. Honeymoo is a lovely place.

My first town, Applewin, was started (in real time) on August 17, 2013.
I have kept my first town because of all the time I invested in it; the museum having full displays of fossils, art, and majorities of fish and insects.
I wouldn't want to replace my first town and have to rebuild the museum.
I also like the layout of the town. I like the villagers. I like Public Works Projects. And my humans have houses with a really good inventory of furniture, a good amount refurbished, which are not perfect but are right for their personas. For anyone visiting in a Dream Address, you will find them all looking very different from each other with exception of one common bond: they each have all the villagers' pictures.
I have reset two towns: Progress and Temps. I did that because they were not working for me (long term). And it was a good decision because I have preferable maps, a good selection of villagers, and better potential. Replacing Progress is ACNLpics, which is a town with humans' houses displaying villager pictures. It's a town I don't actively play, lately, because of the theme houses being the top attraction. It also easy navigation; is set to July 17, 2014 (summer is appropriate for it); and is relaxing. In the town replacing Temps, which I named
Foster, I'm currently in need of more Public Works Projects. The more I play, and set up even briefly repeated Public Works Projects, the more rapidly the villagers will make suggestions. (The town is missing a Lazy. That's my latest objective.) When I get Foster whipped into shape, I will establish for it a Dream Address. I love the map; and I hope it doesn't take me too much longer to get it going.
The thing about creating a new town is the blank canvas can be intimidating. But, what I love is the challenge of finding a map personally appealing for the player. That you're good with committing to a map that meets the guidelines one wants. And the starting villagers can feel really fresh (particularly if all five are ones who you haven't previously played with). Then the plot-resetting of those incoming villagers?slotted on you menu as Nos. 6, 7, and 8 (for all Villager Personalities) and, eventually, No. 9?can be satisfying. It can be satisfying because, when using the plot-resetting feature, you can decide on your Smug, your Uchi, and the a particular villager from the Villager Personality category you didn't have among your first five. (That is, if you didn't have among your first five starting villagers, on Day #01, a Cranky or a Snooty or a Lazy or a Normal or a Jock or a Peppy.)
This is a very good thread!
