Your experience with tarantula islands after the update?

Speaking of self-made ones. The update affected bugs and I wanted to know if anybody noticed changes while farming for them on a Nook Miles island.

Personally on my first round I didn't get a single tarantula after completely emptying the island. I probably ran around for 30 minutes trying to get a single tarantula.
When I tried again, my last axe broke too soon and I was left with 10 bamboo trees. With that I got consistent spawns, though they were rarer and lower in number.

So now I'm wondering if New Horizons actively went against self-made tarantula islands and prevents spawns on empty islands. But maybe I was just unlucky.

Did anyone have a similiar experience? Or did anyone successfully farm for tarantulas on an empty island after the latest update?

Yes, I tried making my Tarantula islands and I was unable to spawn a single tarantula anywhere.

Yes, I took down all trees/flowers/rocks.

At least they still spawn somewhat with some trees left intact.

OMG YES I HATE THE WATER BUGS! Those annoying water cockroaches.

I was able to make a bamboo tarantula island. But I'm 95% sure that making a tarantula island anywhere else is neigh impossible now.

The problem (at least for me) are those water bugs. I don't care tiger beetles since I just run over them and problem solved, but those nasty watery things are impossible to scare! And I don't have the patience to stay 10min catching 15 of them before seeing a single tarantula. And they'll be here until October!!

I’m happy I was able to pay off most of my house with them before this, it’s so annoying they changed something players weren’t complaining about and that only benefitted them.

Have you guys tried it in bamboo island when it is raining while getting rid of all the trees, flowers, and fencing the rocks at the top left and right corners of the island? That'll help a ton!

Yeah, I won't even try to make a tarantula island on anything but a bamboo island at the moment, water bugs spawn constantly elsewhere.

And I haven't heard about the fence thing. I'll see if that helps with the tarantula spawn rate without trees after I farmed them later on.

i don't think you can anymore! fencing i mean. i tried to make bamboo fences last night on my tarantula island and they wont let you place them down anymore. basically you spend time grinding nmt to get a bamboo/tarantula island but you can only enjoy the game the way the devs WANT you to, even if you arent breaking any rules and are just optimizing what youre given LOL

Bamboo Island in the rain was great last night—often two tarantulas spawned at once! I haven’t tried it on any other Island since the update though, and doubt I’ll burn through dozens of tickets just to get that set-up again.
