I've heard rumors about the birthday wish. Some say that if you word it right, it sometimes will come true. Say, if you typed in the name of a villager you want (and no other words), there's a slight chance that he/she may wind up in your campsite or town. Likewise, I've heard of people requesting a villager to move out ("[villager] move out") and it worked too. It could also work for items you want, if they're obtainable.
But it doesn't always come true, which is natural wish philosophy. Besides that, just list an item or villager. It may work.
