It’s probably because there’s 7 or less rhinos in the game, I heard species with less animals like octopus are more common because the game rolls on species and it’s RNG.

This is so bad it’s funny xD but I feel you, I encountered Bangle so many times that I thought they force certain villagers on you. And then when I didn’t find anyone I liked on a mystery island the next day Bangle moved in and I was like okay, you got what you wanted ._.

There’s only seven? I didn’t know this. Maybe that’s why I kept seeing them and cows too so I swore off island hopping forever.

Found Deidre twice and I was looking for a snooty or uchi villager. But I had her in NL and I really wanted someone that I didn't have in that game so I kept passing her up.

Are you at the start of the game looking for a normal villager? If not then your chances of getting Merengue 3 times in a row are 1 in 14,706,125.

The chance of drawing any sequence of 4 cards from a typical 52 card deck is 1 in 6,497,400. Every time you draw 4 cards it is a 1 in 6,497,400 chance of getting whatever you pick up. People usually don't think of it as anything special despite the odds.

It is a matter of perspective really. Since you weren't looking for Merengue, I wouldn't call it unlucky or lucky.
