Since I don't plot reset anymore, every time a villager moves in, it's always a mystery where they are going to plot and well look where Rocket decided to live
I put patterns all over the front of my train station, but I guess I missed a spot. Oh well, she's not permanent anyways.
You know, guys, this new "I don't care anymore" mindset I have now is really helping me not throw this game out the window.
Oh jeez.. the same thing happened to me, too. I stopped plot resetting but I put patterns in places like in front of re-tail and town hall so that they specifically wouldn't move there, then the very next day someone moved directly on the side of town hall despite my patterns being there LOL
I don't miss plot resetting, but man it was satisfying when it worked.
It's good that you started with the "I don't care" mindset. It's good to play the game in a random kind of fashion to see how it was intended to be played and what happens naturally
I don't think the placement is that bad, I don't care where villagers place their houses unless it's in the way of something, usually most of my town has nothing important anyway, I've always hated plot resetting, now I just make sure I place patterns anywhere a villager can move in. In my town there's only one bad house placement but I'm not doing anything in that area yet so it's fine for now.
It isn't in a bad spot, I agree but try telling that to the past me. Before this would have driving me halfway crazy. Now I'm just like 'whatever'. I already decided that I'm not landscaping anything until all my permanent villagers move in, and Rocket moving here is an example as to why. Because if I had started landscaping, her moving here would have messed something up, I guarantee it.
Tank is in almost the same place in my town, but I didn't care then and I don't know. Nowadays the only thing I care about is making sure they don't move into my perfect peach orchard. So much of my town is covered in QRs and PWPs that I know the 3 or 4 spots a new villager can move in, and 2 of them are in my orchard so gotta QR fast
I have never plot resetted before but that is a very nice mindset to have <3 I need to have that mindset more often tbh... but moving in front of a bridge is a huge no-no for me..
Yeah, this mindset is actually pretty useful when something doesn't go your way in this game. I'm an easily frustrated person but I realize that this is just a game. Not worth getting angry or upset over. I know for a fact that Rocket isn't going to be there forever so it just didn't bother me. Something that I wouldn't have been able to say a month ago when something like this would have really made me mad. Also, not landscaping or planning PwP locations is also helping because then I didn't get upset that she plotted in a spot where I planned on putting something, because I'm not planning anything in this town. I'm just playing.
The "I don't care mindset" is exactly what I have for my town now. I used to care soo much about where houses went and was frustrated when they messed up something like flowers or landscaping etc. Eventually I just stopped plot resetting and finally made the fourth character I had wanted for a long time. I have paths in town and a few patterns placed in strategic locations where I don't want houses but other than that I try not to get too bothered about.
Recently Julian moved in my town, I wanted him up near my house but he chose to move down near the campsite. I at first was pretty bothered by it, because helloo Mr. Unicorn you are a magical space unicorn, you don't belong in the foresty camp area of town, but then I realized, why be so bothered by that, I'll just find a story of why he's down there. He's right next to my witch character so the magical unicorn part makes sense now, they're both magical! And my town is space themed with a backstory of strange objects in the sky and creatures roaming about. So a galactic unicorn roaming around the forest? Duh! Why didn't I think of that before??
Anyways sorry for the wall of text haha. Point is, I'm loving the "don't worry about it" mindset too now, and making up a story of why their house is where it is makes it so I can enjoy where they placed it!
When I started my recent town, I know nothing about plot resetting, nor did I know anything about using paths to control move-ins. It was only 2-3 months afterwards that I knew any of those tricks.
What did I do? I just made the most of what I had. Yes, a couple of homes were moved into bad spots at first, but after moving them out and learning where I wanted villagers to be placed, I utilized the plot reset and path control tricks for the next move-ins. Nothing too serious!
