I mean why not right? Just more things to do in my opinion it will definitely be nice!

Yes, i would love that! We already can plant flowers and grow whole fruit trees so exploring and expanding that sounds to me like it fits. I would love cooking too! I actually like that they are trying new mechanics like crafting, even though i feel it could be improved, but i am not against trying new things.

Tbh, I don't want Animal Crossing to become a farm simulator. I don't have a farm area on my island and I don't plan on making one. It would be great to have all the pretty food items again but I don't want to grow crops on my island.

Maybe if we could travel to another island (like Harvey's) with a farmer's market or something, to get ingredients, that would feel alright with me.

If it means that we'll be getting more furniture items, then yes. I will gladly carve out a little land permanently to grows pumpkins, carrots, etc. If the farm items are just one off event items like with Franklins HF then no.

I would love farming to be added as a feature. I feel food is kind of lacking in this game. Bring back the old fruit from NL back as well please!

This actually sounds like a fun feature! I would like it if they would add something like this into the game.

I don't know if I would like this or not. It depends on how they worked it. I am pretty confident it's for Franlin's event regardless. Like the sugarcane and pumpkin probably need to be gathered in bulk and than crafted for a pie.

But that would be my issue to. The farming would just be for bulk crafting. And therefore the vegetables would be considered materials. So if you tried decorating your island with veggies Isabelle would say stupid stuff like 'The townsfolk say the island is littered in trash.' Even though it's decorated with pumpkins to get into the spirit.

Sort of like how my villagers comment about my beach chairs on a beach being an odd place for them. Or how it's odd that a fountain is outside. That stuff just makes me want to slap them to the other side of the island lol.

As much as it's never been a mechanic in the AC series before, I think cooking and farming would bring an added dimension to NH. I like farming and cooking game mechanics, and I'd like to be able to do it in AC! Of course, it would never be necessary either (like it is in some farming simulator games) which is why I think it wouldn't impact the game negatively too much; you'd never be forced to actually farm or cook if you didn't want to.

I think the potential for these features also accounts for the lack of decorative food items, so I do think they will be added at some point (no matter how far away that time is).

Not really, I think it's enough with stuff to do as it is. Also no more update/bad drop rates please.

Oh my gosh. Yes, yes, yes!! My town is literally farm-themed, so if they added actual farming mechanics, my life would be complete!

I'd like it to be added, but within reason. As much as I love farming games, I dont want it to be a key feature of the game. A few crops and a decent amount of recipes would be good with me.

i think it'd be cool!! and we could gift stuff we cook to our villagers. would give us a lot more to do than the same old things we have going on at the moment

probably an upopular opinion but no, i don't really want cooking or farming in animal crossing. or at least i don't want the devs to put a lot of emphasis on these if both of these become a thing. crafiting is already tiresome as it is and i'm not sure how different cooking would be in comparison tbh. if i' had to pick one then i'd rather have a bit of farming rather than cooking but the idea still seems meh to me regardless.

I think it would be fun! I've always liked farming and cooking in other games, so why not~

Yes. I would love to have real crops in my garden. Recipes would be great too. There's just not enough food items.

I'm hoping that we get a recipe for a Jack o lantern. You would just need a pumpkin and a candle.

A pumpkin pie recipe could be sugarcane, wheat, and pumpkin? Or maybe you could use a recipe to make flour from the wheat and sugarcane for a bag of sugar.

Anything that brings in food, which can be displayed (like on the tables in the kitchen of one’s house), has my approval.

I did not enjoy “Pocket Camp.” And I did not import any item from it into “New Horizons.”

I want food in “New Horizons.”

As much as I’d love to cook meals and gift them/place them, I think it would change the game into a more Harvest Moon type thing. I think the frying pan customisation is enough for me!

Considering the fact that crafting is such a big mechanic in New Horizons, we seem merely a step removed from cooking, and I personally wouldn't mind the addition. It seems like a positive to me, if it gives us more items to display. A number of people seem to miss the food items from New Leaf, so there's a desire there. Cooking seems like a fun way to implement such things if they wanted to, and they could always just add more, different foods at random points throughout the year.

By extension, farming would be a sensible way of acquiring the materials necessary for the cooking/crafting. I'd also love the ability to craft a bunch of different stuff with pumpkins (jack-o'-lantern furniture, headware, etc.) if we were able to grow them.

I don't really see them adding the functions though, or at least not farming, because there's only so much land available on the island. A lot of people probably already have their layouts decided and/or completed, so even if they added a greenhouse or something, some people just wouldn't be able to fit it anywhere at this juncture. If they were going to make such a major addition to the series, it would've probably been included as part of the base game. A possible workaround would be an additional island you fly to like Harvey's, but that seems like a stretch. Cooking seems less likely to be implemented if farming isn't also implemented, since we'd need something to cook with, but it's still likelier than farming.

As has been stated by various members throughout the thread, including the original poster, the data that sparked all this speculation is more than likely just referring to Harvest Festival recipe items like the butter, sugar, etc. from the past games. Nevertheless, I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to the additions, whether in this game or the next.

It sounds like an interesting idea I am not sure how that would happen tho or what it would ask players to do specially with the cooking side.

This is the only animal crossing game that I've played before so I don't know about if these mechanics have been in previous games. I do know that it would be cool to be able to cook in animal crossing! I would love it even more if there was a mini game to them like a super simplified cooking mama~

As to the purpose of the cooked food, that's hard to say. My first guest would be that each character personally has a particular taste they enjoy (i.e sweet, savory, sour, bitter, spicy, etc) and the dishes you make could be used as a way to increase friendship faster than the average gift!

i'm gonna be honest- nope. i'm not a fan of cooking/baking, neither in real life nor in games. i thought that it would be incorporated into new horizons and i was kind of glad that they didn't
